St. Ruadhan’s Active Retirement Association.

Our weekly session will recommence on Wednesday 22nd September 2010 after our summer break. Emma Stanley the Chiropodist will be in attendance that day. Transport is available. New members are always welcome. Do please drop in for a cup of tea and a chat. Our weekly meetings are held each Wednesday in St. Ruadhan’s Community Hall Lorrha from 2.30pm to 4.30pm.

North Tipp Ploughing.

The North Tipperary Ploughing Association Committee would like to extend best wishes to it members who are participating in the All Ireland Ploughing Championships in Athy next week. John Slattery Joe Slattery Keith O’Sullivan Liam Murphy Aidan Hogan Raymond Hogan Pakie O’Brien Dessie Clancy and Michael Kennedy will participating in the All Ireland between Tuesday 21st and Thursday 23rd September. We wish our competitors and workers a safe trip to Athy.
The North Tipperary Ploughing Association would like to extend congratulations to Bonner Maher and the Senior Tipperary Team for an excellend display of hurling and skill on their victorious win over Kilkenny. The Tipperary U21 Team had a great victory over Galway congratulations to the Bonner Maher Ciaran Hough and to their manager Ken Hogan.

Sympathy.

Sympathy is extended to Susan Hogan and family Ballymacegan on the death of her mother Julia Kennedy formerly Ballymona Ballingarry last week-end. After funeral Mass on Friday last in The Pike Church Ballingarry burial took place in the local cemetery. May she rest in peace.

Congratulations.

Congratulations to Patrick ‘Bonner’ Maher Ciaran Hough and manager Ken Hogan who made every one in Tipperary very happy people last Saturday night when the under 21 team beat Galway in the All-Ireland final held in Semple Stadium Thurles to add the icing on the cake for Tipperary hurling. To win the SHF the week before was sheer class but for Bonner to bring home two All-Ireland Medals in the one week is one mighty achievement for him. Well done Bonner Ciaran and Ken.

Damien Ryan Memorial Poker Classic

A Poker classic will take place on Friday 17th September at 9.30 sharp in The Yanks Bar Borrisokane with tickets at 30 euro. Prizes 2000 euro pro rata and lots of spot prizes
(extra chips if registered before 9pm!)
There are also 2 euro lines on sale in conjunction with the Poker Classic and the Prizes are 1st E150 2nd E100 3rd E50 and they can be bought in most local businesses.

Birthday Greetings.

The celebrations continued well into Sunday morning as Billy Lewis Rathcabbin celebrated not just his 70th. birthday last week-end with his family and friends but also the success of his grandson Bonner in the All-Ireland SHF the previous week with Tipperary and then the double All-Ireland on Saturday evening in Semple Stadium when Bonner and Tipperary U/21 had a great victory over Galway. And no doubt the celebrations will continue in the Maher and Lewis households over many a long winters night to come. Congratulations and happy birthday Billy and all the best in the future.

Boil Water Notice.

Householders in the parish were issued with ‘Boil the water Notices’ from North Tipperary County Council last week as a ‘ precautionary measure pending further investigation’. The notice is for users of the Riverstown / Rathcabbin Water Supply and the areas affected are Carrig Riverstown (Tipperary side) Killeen The Pike Rathcabbin Redwood Bredagh Lordspark Portland. The notice states that water must be boiled for ‘ Drinking Drinks made with water Preparation of salads and similar foods which are not cooked prior to eating Brushing of teeth Making of ice’.
