Sean O’Donohue and his long time employee Joe Daffey retired from collecting milk in the parish recently, a job Joe took over from his father in 1970.   A committee was formed to present Sean and his helper Joe Daffey with suitable presentations. Joe received an artists sketch of one of the first lorries to collect milk cans and Joe received a wallet of notes. Local artist Ute Duggan was employed to carry out the sketch and Birr man Robert Alexander the frame work. Church News.

 Please note that during the season of Lent the Rosary will be recited before Mass each Sunday, in Lorrha, Redwood andRathcabbinChurches. Stations of the Cross on Friday evenings at8.00p.m.in Rathcabbin, specially for Lent.

 St. John Bosco Relic to Ireland will visit Marion Shrine at Knock. A Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Michael Casey SBD, and transmitted on television by RTE on Sunday 3rd March at 11.00a.m. Further details available on the web site www.donboscorelics.ie

Opening Windows Conference.

A conference, reliving Vatican11, will be held in the Clare Inn Hotel, Newmarket-on-Fergus, Co. Clare, on Saturday 23rd March from 9.45am to 3.45pm. Bishop Kieran, Julie Kavanagh, Aoife McGrath, Fr. Liam Lawton and Fr. Dermot Ryan will share insights on key themes from the Second Vatican Council. Each parish is invited to ask two parishioners to attend. The conference is free of charge and lunch will be provided. Registration forms are available in your parish. Completed forms should be sent by email to openingwindows@outlook.com or forwarded by post to Fr. Albert McDonnell, Westbourne, Ennis, Co. Clare by 28th February.

Rathcabbin Poker Classic.

Rathcabbin Development Association are holding a €1000 prize fund Poker Classic thisFriday 22nd February 2013in Kelly’s Rathcabbin. Tickets cost €30 and the proceeds are for the 2013 Rathcabbin Patrick’s Day Parade and improvements around the village. Your support would be greatly appreciated and you are asked to register at 8.30 as the game will start at9pmsharp. 

Important Heritage Meeting.

The next meeting of Lorrha and Dorrha Heritage Festival will take place on Monday night February 25th at 8.00p.m.in the GAA clubhouse. This meeting will be a very important one and all those wishing to be involved is required to attend. The festival will take place in June and volunteers will also be needed to help with the various events. All are welcome, bring a friend, or two.

Open Day.

RedwoodN.S.are holding their annual Open Day on Saturday, 2nd March. There will be a programme of events commencing at 2 p.m.

St. Ruadhan’s Active Retirement Association.

The AGM of St. Ruadhan’s Active Retirement Association will now take place onWednesday, 20th February, 2013, in the Community Hall Lorrha at2.30pm.    On Wednesday, 27th February, Phil Keating, a nurse from the Marie Keating Foundation will be in the Community Hall, Lorrha, to give a talk on health matters and cancer care at3.15pm.  All are welcome and light refreshments will be served.

Social Dancing.

Social dancing continues in the GAA clubhouse every Friday night with this week’s music provided by Seamus Farrell.

Table Quiz.

A table quiz will take place in McEoghans bar Borrisokane this Friday night 22nd  in aid of the Borrisokane Community Sports grounds. Table of 4 persons is €40 or €10 per person. Starts at9.30 pmand all are welcome.

Smile Awhile & Laugh a Little Every Day.

Paddy is doing some roofing work for Murphy. He nears the top of the ladder and starts shaking and going dizzy.

He calls down to Murphy and says  “I tink I will have to go home, I’ve come over all giddy and feel sick..”
Murphy asks “Ave yer got vertigo?”    Paddy replies “No I only live round the corner.”
