Late Sr. Malachy M. Mannion SMG.

The death of Sr. Malachy Mannion on Friday 25th. February last caused much sadness and regret to many in the parish who knew her and in particular to her relations as she was the last of her generation of this family. One of seven children born in Ballyea Rathcabbin almost 98 years ago it was at a very young age she decided on a life of religion choosing the order of the ‘Poor Servants of the Mother of God’. She spent many years working in Ireland and England before eventually accepting a post as financial bursar in St. Mary’s Convent in Streatham London and where she spent a long number of years. A kind gentle and good natured lady Sr. Malachy returned home frequently to Rathcabbin to visit family and neighbours and she also welcomed them with open arms on their many visits over to her. She took a deep interest in everyone inquired about their well being and retained that interest right up to the end. She slipped away peacefully and quietly as she lived her life in Maryville Nursing Home Brendford where she had spent the last four years. She will be sadly missed but very fondly remembered. Her remains reposed in Maryville on Thursday March 10th. and after concelebrated funeral Mass there the following day burial took place in Hounslow Cemetery Middlesex. May her gentle Soul rest in peace.
