Sympathy.

Sympathy is extended to Marie Wilson and family Abbeyville Lorrha on the recent death of her mother Kathleen O’Kelly Castlecomer.
After funeral Mass on Wednesday June 1st. in the Church of the Immaculate Conception Castlecomer burial took place in the adjoining cemetery. May she rest in peace.
Sympathy is also extended to Gilla Kennedy Rathcabbin on the death of her uncle Brian McManus Crinkle. After funeral Mass in St. Brendan’s Church Birr on Saturday morning June 4th burial took place in Clonoghill Cemetery. May he rest in peace.

St. Ruadhan’s Active Retirement.

On Wednesday May 18th. we had a very interesting talk on the benefits of healthy eating. We were treated to a taste of delicious bread fruit loaf and biscuits made with spelt flour. We will at a later date have a cookery demonstration by Janet Austin Nutritional Therapist.
On Wednesday June 8th. the Order of Malta will attend to talk about first aid and C.P.R. All are welcome.

Tidy Towns.

With adjudication for the national tidy towns competition drawing closer more window boxes with plenty of colour would be appreciated. The committee are appealing to everyone to continue their good work at keeping the village looking clean and tidy. We also appeal to the people who are throwing newspapers out their car windows on the approach roads to the village to please refrain from doing so and to use the litter bins that are provided in the village. Work evenings continue every Tuesday evening for the month of June. There is always room for help and remember it’s better to help a little than not at all. Meet outside the hall at 6.30p.m. and bring garden fork spade etc. If the time is too early for you do come along at whatever time suits. Alternatively if the evening is not suitable another evening can be arranged if you call (086) 8647166.

Eucharistic Congress.

Do you have any medals / memorabilia from the Eucharistic Congress which was held in Ireland in 1932? If so would you be so kind as to give them to the Parish on loan for display? If you would please call Fr. Pat (090) 9747009.

Prayer Vigil.

You are invited to join a monthly prayer vigil that takes place on the 3rd. Friday of each month in Cluain Chiarain Clonmacnois. The prayer intention is for the renewal of the gift of faith and the evangelization of Ireland. The vigil begins with Mass at 10pm leading to adoration until 3.15am Saturday. Birthday Greetings.

Congratulations and best wishes is extended to Sarah Lewis Rathcabbin who celebrated her 30th. birthday last week-end. Sarah celebrated the occasion with family and friends in Gleeson’s of Riverstown. Well done Sarah.

Angling Results.

We had a successful kids angling competition for rainbow trout. Weather turned out great. We had a good turn out. Results of competition: 1st Tony Needham (1lb 80Z & 1lb 7oz) 2nd Oisin Barron (1lb 8oz & 1lb 4oz) & 3rd Ross O’Meara] (1lb 7oz). Thanks to Pat O’Meara for use of his pond Gary Kenny for sponsorship prize Denis & Lil Maher for Barbeque afterwards. And thanks to parents and members for helping out.

Tourist Office.

The South East Galway tourist office is open from June 7th. to September Monday to Friday 9.am to 5.30pm. (Lunch 1 – 2) at Abbey Street Portumna. People with tourism related businesses are invited to leave in information. Call (090) 9741867.
