Congratulations to Maureen Guinan who was the winner of this load of turf last week.

Birthday Girl.

Many congratulations and good wishes is extended to Kathleen Kennedy, Rathcabbin who celebrated her 98th birthday on Saturday last October 31st. Kathleen celebrated this wonderful occasion with her family. Happy birthday Kathleen and you are wished many more years of good health, happiness and contentment.

Gratitude.

Lorrha Development has had a tremendous response to the request for suitable photographs for the 2021 edition of the very popular annual Lorrha Parish calendar. Many thanks to everyone who has responded again this year as without such photographs we simply could not produce such a keepsake.
The calendar will be in the shops in the near future. Watch this space for further details.

Church News.

Level 5 Covid 19. Both Lorrha and Rathcabbin churches will remain open for anyone wishing to pray privately for the next 6 weeks.   Masses will be available online (see details below).

Up to 25 mourners can attend a funeral service. Up to 25 guests can attend a wedding ceremony and reception. Baptisms-postponed unless an emergency. First Friday Calls-we can arrange to have a family member to give Holy Communion to their relative. Confessions-may be heard upon request. These arrangements will remain in place until level five restrictions are lifted on December 1st.

Masses remain available remotely live at Borrisokane mass times- 7pm Saturday and 10:30am Sunday- and a recording from Fr Michael from Terryglass. Sympathy:

Sympathy is extended to the Gallagher and Milne families Lorrha on the death of a mother, sister and grandmother Kathleen Gallagher, Elmgrove Nursing Home Birr, and formally Ballymacegan, Lorrha who passed on October 29th, (peacefully) surrounded by her family. Predeceased by her devoted husband Joe, she will be sadly missed by her loving family; daughters Carol and her husband Harry, Denise and her husband Brian, Fiona and her partner Ben, son Rodney and his wife Antoinette, grandchildren; Emily, Ayden, Dylan, Rebecca, Cian and Eoin, brothers and sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
After Funeral Mass on Saturday, October 31st, in St. Brendan’s Church, Birr, burial took place in Clonoghill Cemetery, Birr. May she rest in peace.

The on-line donations facility on the Diocesan Website is now operational which enables parishioners to make on-line contributions to their own individual parish. Log on to www.killaloediocese.ie and using the Donate button, select your own parish to make your contribution. Donations to parish funds, priest’s collections or other special collections can be accommodated. We hope that you will find this service useful for your ongoing support which is greatly appreciated.

November Intentions.

 Anyone wishing to have deceased members of their families remembered throughout November can do so by dropping their lists into the Parochial House in Lorrha.

Anniversary Masses.

 For anyone wishing to book an anniversary mass please contact the Parish Office on 090-9747009. Both Fr Tom and Fr Michael are happy to include anniversaries in their weekend masses, in Terryglass by audio on Saturday evenings and on webcam on Sunday mornings in Borrisokane.

Help Line:

A COVID-19 support line is available for older people and is managed by ALONE,  a national support line and additional supports for older people who have concerns or are facing difficulties relating to the outbreak of COVID-19 (Coronavirus). Professional staff are available to answer queries and give advice and reassurance where necessary. The support line is open seven days a week, 8am – 8pm, by calling 0818 222 024.

Lorrha GAA Helping Hand.

GAA Notes:

There was No Winner of this weeks lotto jackpot of €10,650. The numbers drawn on 2 November were: 7-23-26-28. 1 Match 3: Niall McIntyre wins €160. Promoters: Joe Cleary, Joe Dolan and Internet. Next Monday’s draw will be for a jackpot of €10,800 with a Match 3 pot of €100 with Team 4 in charge of the draw. Thank you for your continued support.

Support local businesses: It is more important than ever to support the local businesses in our parish, and we would urge all members to shop local and support local when possible.

Juvenile Club Raffle: Thanks to all who contributed to, supported, and sponsored the juvenile club fundraiser. The winners are as follows: 1) Turf – Maureen Guinan, Culleen, 2) Bottle of whiskey – Denis Duggan, 3) Biscuits – Ros Pyke, 4) Sweets – Leanne Sullivan, 5) Sweets – Elaine McDonagh.

Tipp GAA Clubs Draw: The Brophy’s were on the double in the third Tipperary GAA Clubs Draw. Congrats to Maria who won the second overall prize of €5000 cash/holiday and to Shane who won the second promoters prize of €400.

AGM: The club’s Annual General Meeting will take place as soon as the current restrictions are lifted.
