Lorrha is one of five Tipperary Villages that has received funding under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme which was announced recently.

€684,554 in total has been approved for five towns and villages across Tipperary, who are making plans and preparations for various projects. Lorrha will receive €149,554.80, Nenagh €96,000 ,Cashel €200,00, Newcastle €139,060 and Clogheen €100,000.
Local Authorities engaged with local communities in many towns and villages across the country, to help them to identify projects to receive this funding which was announced by Minister Michael Ring, Minister for Rural Development, earlier last week. Scéal, the Lorrha group secured the funding to complete an interpretive centre and community shop adjacent to the Community Hall.

On a visit to Lorrha last week to meet with members of the committee, Deputy Michael Lowry welcomed the funding and said . ‘I had visited the parish earlier in the year and the local group requested me to speak to the Department of Rural and Community Development. In doing so I could see the tremendous potential this project would have for the village and environs. This is a flagship project which could be reproduced in other villages throughout the country and once completed I am requesting that Minister Michael Ring comes to Lorrha to see first hand the excellent regeneration work being done in the parish of Lorrha and Dorrha ‘said Deputy Lowry. ‘I also want to acknowledge the work of Cllr Michael O’ Meara  who worked tirelessly to ensure that this funding was secured in his area ‘ said Michael Lowry T.D.
