Sunday Masses Redwood, 1st & 3rd Saturday’s at 6.30pm, Lorrha, 2nd, 4th & 5th Saturdays at 6.30pm. Rathcabbin, Sunday’s at 11.30am. Week day Masses Monday 9.30am in Lorrha (no Mass on Bank Holidays)
Reconciliation Service will be held in Borrisokane Church on Thurs 19th Dec at 8pm. The Leader on the night is Fr Des Hillary.

Christmas Mass Times.

Christmas Eve Tuesday 24th.  Mass will be celebrated in Kilbarron at 6.00pm, Borrisokane at 7.00pm, Lorrha 7.30pm, Aglish 9.00pm, Terryglass at 9.00pm.  Christmas Day in Redwood  at 9.00am, Terryglass 9.30am, and in Rathcabbin at 11.00am. Please note the time in Rathcabbin and in Borrisokane at 11.00am.

Annual Christmas Mass.

St. Kieran’s Care Home, The Pike, Rathcabbin  Annual Christmas Mass and party will be held on Friday Dec. 20th at 2.00pm. All are welcome to come along.

Late Regina Keeshan.

Sympathy is extended to the family of Regina Keeshan, Kilfada, Lorrha who died on Monday 9th December. Deeply regretted by her brothers Ger, John and Brian, nephews, nieces, grandnieces, sisters-in-law Patrica and Ann, relatives and friends.
After funeral Mass in Aglish Church on Thursday 12th burial took place in Carrig Cemetery. May she rest in peace.

Late Maureen Moran.

The death occurred on Tuesday December 10th of Maureen Moran, Derry, Rathcabbin, (peacefully) at Tullamore General Hospital, In her 100th year. Maureen spent the final year of her life as a resident of St. Kieran’s Nursing Home , Rathcabbbin. Deeply missed by her family Liam ,Margie, Paschal, Patricia, Breda, Bernie, Christine, grandchildren , great grandchildren , daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and neighbours to whom sympathy is offered.
After her funeral Mass at Rathcabbin Church on Friday 13th burial took place at Bonoham Cemetery.  May she rest in peace.

Charity Golf Outing.

RAGS annual charity golf outing will take place on Friday December 27th in Portumna golf club at 11.00am. No membership necessary, just come along and enjoy the day. All proceeds this year to Pieta House. To book contact Donal Brady on (087) 2225516 or James O’Meara on (086) 8109099.

News from Lorrha School.

Cycle Safely Winners.
Well done to Chloe Mannion, Emma Kennedy, Niall Duggan, Ava Young and Bláthnaid Bennett who were winners in the Cycle Safely Poster Competition which was organized by Tipperary County Council. Top prize of a lovely bicycle went to Chloe Mannion while Emma, Niall, Ava and Bláthnaid won cycling helmets. The prize winners were presented with their prizes in the school recently by Michelle Maher, Road Safety Officer, Tipperary County Council, Mary Murphy, Tipperary Co.Co. and David Moynan of Moynans Bike Shop Nenagh who supplied the equipment.  Well done to all our winners and participants in the competition.

Birr Theatre

Pupils went to see Santa’s Fairy Tale Christmas in Birr Theatre last week and they had a great time too. We extend thanks to all in the Theatre for their help.

Portumna School Play.

All our students enjoyed the Portumna School play ‘The Wiz’ which the T.Y. year staged last week in the school. Many thanks to everyone for their help, showing us to our seats etc. on the day.

St. Kieran’s Care Home Entertainment.

We accepted the annual invitation from St. Kieran’s Care Home, to entertain their residents for Christmas. Last Friday our students enjoyed meeting with older people they knew from our community, sharing a few words, and showing their skills through music, dancing and singing. Many thanks to St. Kieran’s for the invitation which we always look forward to getting, and the welcome we received there. We extend a happy Christmas to both staff and patients.

Lorrha & Dorrha Football.

Lorrha & Dorrha football management who organized the very well attended fundraising table quiz that was held in Kellys Rathcabbin, wish to thank everyone who supported the fundraiser by making donations, those who gave spot prizes and to Mulrooney’s filling station, The Ferry, for sponsoring the hamper. The winner of the hamper was Ger Slevin, Rathcabbin. A special thanks to Aidan, Pauline and Niall McIntyre for running the quiz so well.

Redwood NS.

Many thanks to all those who came to our Christmas Variety Show last week. Well done to all the children on a great performance. Many thanks to Anne Marie Hough for all her work putting the drama ‘ Redwood Rambling House’ together and to Mark Jerome for the drumming and Olive Kilgannon for the wonderful Sean Nós dancing. Congratulations to the winners of the Parents Association Raffle – hampers Martina Bugler, George Killeen and Sadhbh O’ Crowley and to Paddy Cleary the winner of the ten bags of timber along with all the other spot prize winners. Many thanks to the Parents Association for running the raffle and organising the refreshments. Happy Christmas from all in Redwood NS.

Progressive 25 Cards continue every Friday night at 8.30pm. Christmas Card Game on Friday 27th December at 8.30pm. All welcome.

Bootcamp Fitness Classes returns on Monday 6th January, 7.30pm – 8.30pm in Rathcabbin Hall.

Teen Boxercise returns also at 6.45pm. €5 Pay as you go. All levels of fitness welcome.

Portumna Arts Group Annual Little Christmas

Portumna Arts Group & Shorelines Arts Festival would like to wish all our friends, sponsors, performers, volunteers and audiences a very Happy Christmas! And on the 12th night as is customary, the annual Arts Dinner will take place in Portumna Golf Club Restaurant on Monday, January 6th at 7pm. Buffet Dinner (choices of starter/main/dessert) incl. vegetarian option for just €20. With a complimentary glass of wine, this is an ideal way to celebrate the last day of Christmas.

Portumma Christmas Day Charity Swim/ Dip. This years Christmas Day Charity Swim in conjunction with Portumma Chamber of Commerce will take place at 12 noon, Swimming Area, Shannon Road, Portumma. All proceeds in aid of Portumma Social Service Day Care Centre, Castle Ave.

Senior AGM: The Annual General Meeting of Lorrha & Dorrha GAA senior club will take place in Rathcabbin Hall this Thursday 19th December at 7.45pm. All are invited to attend. Only 2019 paid up members are entitled to take part in any vote on the night.

Adjourned Juvenile AGM: The roles of Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Secretary and Assistant Secretary must be filled at the Adjourned AGM on Tuesday 7th January in the Tony Reddin Centre or there will be no juvenile committee for the coming year. Volunteers for these positions are urgently asked to come forward and contact Tommy or Caroline who will assist in the trasition.

Also, coaches are required for the under 6 & 8 age groups for the coming year and anyone interested is to contact Tommy Kennedy.

Tipperary GAA Clubs Draw: James Hogan won top prize of a Skoda/Renault Car or €15,000 in the December Tipperary GAA Clubs Draw. John O’Brien, Killeen, sold the winning ticket and wins €500. Both men will be presented with their prizes at the January draw which will be hosted by Lorrha GAA Club on Friday 10th January. Venue to be confirmed.

Table Quiz: Thank you to all those who supported our Table Quiz fundraiser in Kelly’s last Friday night. It was greatly appreciated.
