Commiserations to Lorrha Jnr B Camogie team and management of  Ken Hogan, Aidan McIntyre, Martin Young, who lost to Fethard 2.7 to 1.6 in the final last Saturday. Hard luck.

The Annual General Meeting  will take place in The Yanks, Borrisokane on Wednesday night November 6th at 9.00pm. Looking forward to welcoming all existing members and new members welcome.

News From Lorrha School.

Well done to Lorrha NS pupils Bláthnaid Bennett and Chloe Mannion, winners in the poetry competition organised by Shorelines Arts Festival, Portumna. Bláthnaid won the overall prize on the day. The girls were  presented with their prizes at a prize giving ceremony which was held recently in the Library in Portumna. Well done to all who participated.

Athletics.

We also congratulate Chloe Mannion, Emma Kennedy and Ava Young who won bronze in the team athletics 1000m which was held in Thurles recently. Well done girls.

Extracurricular classes

We continue with extracurricular classes in the school as follows.
Speech & Drama with Patrice on a Monday evening from 3 to 4pm.
Guitar with Anthony on a Tuesday evening from 3 to 4pm.
German with Ute on a Thursday evening from 2.40 -3.40

Sport.

We participated in a fun 7 a side football blitz in Borrisokane earlier in the month and a second one which was held in Puckane. The pupils had a great time and enjoyed both. Thanks to the organisers of both events.

Team Hope.

Once again the pupils in Scoil Lua Naofa are participating in the Team Hope Christmas Shoe Box appeal. Team Hope is an Irish, Christian international development organisation working to help children affected by poverty in Africa and Eastern Europe.

Sympathy.

Sympathy is extended to the family and relatives of the late Josie Hourigan, nee Sullivan, late of Redwood, Lorrha who dies last week. After funeral Mass in St. Rynagh’s Church, Banagher on Tuesday Oct. 22nd burial took place in the local cemetery. May she rest in peace.

Late Charlotte McCabe Gunning.

The death occurred on Saturday October 26th of Charlotte McCabe Gunning (née Mahon), Lorrha at Portumna Retirement Village. Predeceased by her husbands Tom and Harry and brother Con. Deeply missed by her son Brian, daughter Mairead, daughter-in-law Johanna, son-in-law Martin, grandchildren Sorcha, Diarmuid and Cian, brothers Frank, Seán and Mike, sisters Nancy Luder, Madeline Tierney, Evelyn O’ Meara, Elish O’Reilly, Beatrice Collins and Marie McKenna, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends to whom sympathy is extended.
After funeral Mass in St. Ruadhan’s Church Lorrha on Wednesday 30th at 12 noon, burial took  place in the adjoining cemetery. May she rest in peace.

Golfing Thanks.

Lorrha parish golf outing eventually got going on the third time of asking after it had to be postponed on two occasions. The organisers wish to thank everyone who supported the event. The winner was Alan Naylor on 40pts and a handy cap of 17. A presentation was made to Tony Coen as a mark of appreciation as Hon. Secretary for the past 30 years.

Best of luck to Lorrha junior footballers and management in the county semi final on Sunday coming November 3rd against South club Killenaule  in Moneygall at 12 noon.  Good luck lads.

Kids Halloween Fancy Dress Disco.  Under 12’s. Thursday 31st October.  6pm-7.30pm. Music by DJ Ray.  Children must be accompanied by an adult throughout the disco.  €2 entry per child. Come along and join in the fun…adults can dress up too..

Long Tail Competition.

The annual long tail competition and game barbecue in memory of Eddie Clancy and PJ Gorman will be held in Kelly’s Rathcabbin on Saturday 2nd November. Music by Trevor and PJ Hogan.

St. Kieran Care Home Rathcabbin will be holding their annual memorial Mass on Monday November 4th at 2.00pm. Also, their Christmas party with Mass on Friday 20th Dec. at 2.00pm. All are invited to join with the staff and residents at the above events.

Junior Football: Lorrha will play Killenaule in the semi-final of the County Junior ‘B’ Football Championship semi-final this Sunday 3rd November in Roscrea at 12.00pm.

Under 21 Hurling: The Under 21 hurlers got off to a winning start in the North ‘B’ Championship with a 3-14 to 1-12 win over Silvermines in Ballingarry on Friday night. They play Portroe in round 2 next Saturday 2nd November in Portroe at 12 noon where a win will seal a place in the semi-finals.

Camogie: Hard luck to the Lorrha Junior camogie team who were defeated by St Rita’s Fethard in the County Junior ‘B’ Championship Final at The Ragg on Saturday.

Tipperary GAA Clubs Draw: The November draw takes place next Friday night in Cloughjordan. Best of luck to all our subscribers. We would ask all promoters to bring their accounts up to date.

All Stars: Best of luck to Brian Hogan when the GAA Hurling All Star team in announced this Friday evening.
