2020 Parish Calendar.

We are looking for photographs, poems or indeed a story that might be suitable for inclusion in the 2020 edition of the Lorrha Parish calendar. All hard copies of photographs will be returned.

Harvest Thanksgiving.

The annual Harvest Thanksgiving ceremony will be held on Sunday night October 6th at 8.00pm in St. Ruadhan’s COI Lorrha. All welcome.

Art Classes

Drawing for children (9 years up) on Wednesdays  6 – 7pm, starting on September 25th for 8 weeks. Arts & Crafts for children (5 years up): Saturdays  3 – 4pm and 5 – 6pm, starting on 5th October in Bramble Art Studio, Lorrha, for 8 weeks. Please contact Ute: 087- 9151356. Church News.

Vigil Mass in Redwood Church on Saturday Oct. 5th at 6.30pm and in Rathcabbin Church the following day at 11.30am.  Details of Mass times, dates and contact details are available on the parish web site www.lorrhadorrha.ie
Please note Mass time changes on the weekend of 5th & 6th October. Three Masses across the Pastoral area as follows.
Saturday 5th October. 7pm Mass in Borrisokane. Sunday 6th October 9.30am Mass in Terryglass. Sunday 6th October 11.30am Mass in Rathcabbin. This arrangement has been recommended by the Pastoral Councils when one priest is unavailable.
First Friday Mass on Oct. 4th  will be celebrated in Lorrha Church at 8.00pm.

 Recent Wedding.

Congratulations and many good wishes are extended to Chrissie Ryan Lorrha and Brian Bugler, Lordspark, who were married recently. You are wished many happy years together.

New Date for Parish Golf Outing.

The Lorrha and Dorrha Parish Golf Society have set a new date for their outing. The event is now set for Birr Golf Club on Saturday 19th October 11.30 to 1.00pm. As time is now limited, book early to ensure a place on time sheet. Please contact Tony Coen on (087) 6219639.

Rathcabbin Hall Happenings.

The winners of the progressive 25 on 10 games were Paddy Heenan & Jimmy O Brien. 2nd prize was shared by 9 pairs on 9 games.

The table prize went to PJ Nevin & Chrissie Hogan, while the last game was won by Tom & Caoimhe Kennedy. Cards continue on Friday night at 8.30pm

Lakeshore Community Market is back in Rathcabbin Hall this Saturday 5th Oct, from 10am to 1pm. Buy locally grown vegetables and homemade produce, or just call in for tea and a chat.

Bootcamp Fitness Classes by Ignite Fitness every Monday from 7.30pm – 8.30pm in Rathcabbin Hall. €5 Pay as you go.

Environment Event:

This event to mark the Season of Creation will take place in Rathcabbin Hall on Sunday, 6th October between 12.30 and 4.30pm. It will be a very practical event, focussing on how we can Save the Earth by introducing changes to our everyday living habits, a priority surely considering all we are hearing about Climate Change. Come along anytime during the afternoon. Activities for children (related to care of the environment) will be organised. Refreshments will be served. Think – ‘’If many little people in many little places do many little deeds, they can change the face of the Earth.’’ (African Proverb)

Semi Final.

Best of luck is extended to the Lorrha camogie girls who are playing Moycarkey in the junior ‘B’ county semi-final on Sunday next October 6th at 11.00am in the county camogie pitch at The Ragg. All support for the girls would be appreciated.

Soaring Star Nomination.

Congratulations and many good wishes are extended to Lorrha girl Clodagh McIntyre who has been nominated for a camogie soaring star award, being recognized for her contribution to the Tipperary Intermediate team and the Senior panel during 2019. This is a great achievement for Clodagh and for the Lorrha club and we wish her the best of luck along with Sabrina Larkin, Andrea Loughnane and Laura Shinners. A total of nine senior players were nominated for All Stars, Mary Ryan, Clodagh Quirke, Julieanne Bourke, Cáit Devane, Caoimhe Bourke, Ereena Fryday, Karin Kennedy, Eibhlis McDonald and Emer Loughman.

Cheque Presentation.

The Aglish Sociable ladies will be holding their fundraiser presentation on Friday night October 4th. in Aglish Hall at 8.00pm. They are inviting everyone to what is expected to be a great night of music, tea and good fun.  So mark the date in your diary.

Shorelines

The death has occurred of Bridie Darcy (née Coughlan) late of Curragha, Lorrha.

Bridie, in the loving care of the staff of Nenagh Manor Nursing Home. Wife of the late Jim, and mother of the late baby Denis in her 97th year.

Deeply regretted by her loving family, Ger, Brigid (Killeen), Bernadette (Meagher), daughter-in-law Noelle, sons-in-law PJ & Pat, grandchildren, Lynda, Eimear, Alan, Padraig, Siobhan, Niamh, Orla & James; sisters-in-law,nephews, nieces, relatives & friends.

Reposing at Ryans Funeral home, Nenagh tomorrow Wednesday from 4 – 8pm. Funeral arriving to St Flannan’s Church, Ardcroney on Thursday morning for 11.30 Funeral Mass. Burial afterwards in the new cemetery Ardcroney.

 

GAA News

There was No Winner of this weeks lotto jackpot of €3,300. Numbers drawn on 30 September were: 12-14-15-25. 2 Match 3’s share €100: Fiona Daly, Evelyn Cleary. Promoters: Joe Cleary, Eamonn Maher and Thomas P Cahalan.
Next Monday’s draw will be for a jackpot of €3,450 with €100 Match 3 pot. Team 2 in charge of the draw; Team 8 on Saturday rota. Thank you for your continued support.

Junior Football: Lorrha have progressed to the County Junior ‘B’ Football Championship quarter finals where they have been drawn against Moyne-Templetuohy with no date for the game confirmed as yet.

Under 21 Hurling: The under 21 hurling championship will commence on weekend 19-20 October.

Under 15 Hurling: Lorrha were defeated 4-16 to 2-10 by Moneygall/Clonakenny in the North Under 15 ‘B’ Hurling Plate quarter final in Moneygall on Sunday.

Under 11 Hurling: The under 11’s played in the North ‘C’ Plate semi-final on Saturday against Portroe and were defeated 4-1 to 1-0.

Juvenile/Camogie Raffle: The raffle for the trailer of turf organised by the juvenile/camogie clubs will now take place on Friday 4th October. This is due to tickets still coming back in. Apologies for the delay and thanks to everyone for the support so far.

All Star: Congratulations to Brian Hogan on being nominated for a Hurling All Star for the first time. The All Stars will be announced on Friday 1st November.
