The cast of Lorrha Variety Group’s three act Sam Cree comedy “Stop it Nurse” which will be staged in Lorrha Hall for three nights Friday Dec. 15th to Sun. 17th incl. Doors open at 8.00pm.  Entre €10.

2018 Calendar.

The 2018 edition of the Lorrha Dorrha calendar can be purchased throughout the parish in Pat Hough’s, Friars Tavern, Colette’s hair Salon and Sceal Shop, Ferry Service Station, Ferry Inn, Flynn’s Carrigahorig, Brophy’s Rathcabbin, Buckley’s Super Valu Birr,  O’Meara’s Super Value, Lorraine’s hair Salon, Boathouse and Salmons Newsagents Portumna and in Heenan’s Borrisokane. News from Lorrha School.

Pupils in Lorrha N.S. once again participated in the Team Hope Annual Christmas Shoe Box appeal. We would like to thank all parents and pupils for their generosity again this year.
Well done to Conor & Emma Kennedy, Cian Claffey and Niall Duggan who attended the GAA primary school table quiz held recently in Borrisokane school.
We had four winners in the recent Portumna Library Art competition.  Lee Mannion, 1st Class. Jamie Hogan,  2nd class. Nathan Mannion, 3rd Class and Chloe Mannion, 4th Class. Keep up the good work.

Sympathy.

The death occurred on Friday 1st December of Olive O’Hara (née Kennedy) Manchester and Ross, Rathcabbin.
Sadly missed by her loving family, husband Joe, sons Diarmuid and Barry, daughter Treacy, brother Pat, sisters Lena, Ann, Margaret, Martina and Geraldine, sister-in-law Margaret, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, grandchildren, relatives and friends to whom sympathy is offered.
Funeral in Manchester. May she rest in peace. Olive’s Months memory Mass will be offered in Rathcabbin Church on Sunday 7th January 2018

Easter 2018 Pilgrimage.

Padre Pio Easter  pilgrimage to San Giovanni Rotondo, Italy for four nights flying out from Dublin. Visiting the Shrine of St. Philomena, then onto the church where Padre Pio celebrated his first Mass as a newly ordained priest. The Pilgrimage will also visit his birth place in Pietrelcina,his family home and the church of St. Anna where he was baptized and received his First Holy Communion. In the Capuchin Friary and the cell where St. Pio lived and died. Before returning home, the Pilgrimage will also visit Monte Sant’Angelo, the shrine in the cave where the Archangel Michael appeared in the fifth century along with visiting St. Matthew’s monastery in San Marco in Lamis.

Church News.

Sacrament of Reconcilliation on Sunday 17th December in St. Mary’s of the Rosary Church, Nenagh.  The service will be led by Dr Jessie Rodgers.   Time – 4.30pm.

Annual Christmas Dinner & Party.

North Tipperary Ploughing committee have organized their annual get together in recognition for work and effort throughout the year. The date this year is Saturday night 16th in and the venue is the Yanks Borrisokane at 9.00p.m. There will also be the usual raffle on the night for spot prizes. All welcome.

Redwood NS Christmas Variety Show

Our Christmas Variety Show will be held on Wednesday, 20th December at 7.00 p.m. in the GAA Centre, Moatfield. Admission is free. A highly entertaining night is lined up with ‘ A Night Before Christmas’, Dance It Out hip hop and the hilarious drama ‘Redwood Nursing Home’. So come along on the night for lots of Christmas fun!!!

When cleaning out your wardrobe to make room for the new collection, please remember Lorrha Development/Tidy Towns who continue to collect unwanted clothes throughout the year. Items of clothing must be clean and dry and in good condition please and we can supply bags if you want. We can also collect to make it easy for you, just call (086) 8647166, (086) 8493595 or (087) 2601413 with your name and details. Please note we cannot accept Duvets, bedding, household linen, pillows, cushions, carpets, rugs and mats including bath toilet and shower mats soiled or wet clothing but good quality unwanted clothing for re-use (not recycling). All money raised from all fundraising ventures is used for the ongoing work around Lorrha Village.
