Congratulations to Kathleen Kennedy Rathcabbin & Kathleen Houlihan Lorrha who celebrated their 95th birthdays recently.

Tidy Towns AGM

Lorrha Development/Tidy Towns A.G.M. will take place on Tuesday night November 21st at 8.00pm in Lorrha Community Hall. We invite you to come along, get involved and support the ongoing work around the village. Look forward to seeing you there.

Lorrha Annual Christmas Market.

The Lorrha Annual Christmas Market and Auction will take place as usual on the first Sunday in December which is the 3rd. This is always a very popular event because of your valued support and the organising committee are hoping that you will continue to help make it the success again that it has been in the past.
Items are required for the auction so if you have anything that you think is suitable to go under the hammer, please contact Louis (086) 849 3595. Anyone wishing to take a table to sell their produce, toys, christmas goods, baking, jewellery, veg & potatoes etc.  please contact Mary on (090) 9747196 or Liz on (090) 9747893 as soon as possible to book a table.

Sympathy.

Sympathy is extended to Rodney Gallagher & family, Lorrha, and extended family members on the death of his father Joe,  Syngefield, Birr which occurred on Sunday 5th November. After funeral Mass on Wednesday 8th burial took place in Clonoghill Cemetery. May he rest in peace.

Church News.

The Rosary will be recited before Vigil Mass and Sunday Masses during the month of November.
Mass on Wednesday, 8th November in Lorrha Church at 7.30p.m. This Mass will be offered for the Holy Souls.
This coming Friday (10th November) we will have our annual   Mass of Remembrance  at  7.30p.m. in  Lorrha Church  for all who have died in our community.The names of those who have  died in the past  year will be read aloud, and a member of the family or a friend will be invited to bring a lighted candle to the sanctuary.   You can remember to pray for members of your family by lighting a candle and offering a prayer for your loved ones who have gone to God.
Vigil  Mass in Redwood Church will be at 6.30p.m. on Saturday, 18th November to facilitate people going to James Kilbane concert at 8.00p.m. in Rathcabbin Church.
Laudato Sí:  Spreading the word seminar in The Heritage Centre Cloughjordan on Saturday,  November 18th, 10am – 1pm.   Welcome by Bishop Fintan, also professor Peadar Kirby and archbishop   K. O’Reilly. All welcome.
Please remember to get your James Kilbane concert tickets, in time for Sat. 18th Nov. at 8.00pm,  Rathcabbin Church.   Tickets can be purchased after weekend Masses – Lorrha from Mary Coen,  from Martin Hough in Redwood and in  Rathcabbin from Maria Brophy. 

Lorrha Camogie.

Commiserations to the Lorrha camogie team who were beaten by Ballina in the county final on Saturday last. Hard luck girls.

Active Retirement.

Lorrha active retirement wish to welcome everyone back after the summer break. The group are presently planning their winter activities and would love to see new members join them. They are in Lorrha Community Hall every Wednesday from 2.30p.m. All welcome.

Community Employment Vacancy at St. Cronan’s Service Nenagh

St. Cronan’s Service Nenagh has a CE vacancy on our Community Employment project for a Care Assistant a with a full B licence. Hours of work 19½ ,over 3 days. Fundraising Table Quiz.

Lorrha Juvenile club are holding a fundraising table quiz on Moatefield on Saturday night 11th November at 8.00pm. Raffle and spot prizes on the night. Please support. Congratulations is extended to Donie Ryan, Derrinsallow, on winning last week’s GAA lotto jackpot of €9,450. Well done Donie.

Winter De-Clutter.

When cleaning out your wardrobe to make room for the winter collection, please remember Lorrha Development/Tidy Towns who continue to collect unwanted clothes throughout the year. Items of clothing must be clean and dry and in good condition please and we can supply bags if you want. We can also collect to make it easy for you, just call (086) 8647166, (086) 8493595 or (087) 2601413 with your name and details. Please note we cannot accept Duvets, bedding, household linen, pillows, cushions, carpets, rugs and mats including bath toilet and shower mats soiled or wet clothing but good quality unwanted clothing for re-use (not recycling). All money raised from all fundraising ventures is used for the ongoing work around Lorrha Village which helps to keep one adult employed. GAA News

Under 21: The U21 hurlers enjoyed a terrific 0-13 to 0-12 victory over Portroe in the North ‘B’ semi-final in Puckane last Sunday. Niall McIntyre’s injury time point proved the winner in a tough contest. Lorrha will play Silvermines in the North Final in Toomevara this Saturday 11th November at 2.30pm. Best of luck to the players and mentors. All support would be appreciated.

Fundraiser: The clubs 2500-to-1 fundraising draw with a prize fund of €10,000 will go ahead on Saturday 2ndDecember. We are urging all club members to make one final push to get the tickets sold for what is a vital fundraiser for the club. Your support would be appreciated.

Juvenile Table Quiz: Lorrha Juvenile Club’s annual fundraising table quiz in Moatfield due to have taken place on Saturday 11th November has been put back to Saturday 2nd December at 8.00pm.

Scor: The North final of Scor na nOg takes place in Borrisoleigh on Friday 17thNovember. Anyone wishing to take part in competitions including Figure Dancing, Solo Singing, Recitation/Storytelling; Ballad Group; Stage Presentation; Instrumental Music; Set Dancing and Table Quiz should contact any senior or juvenile club officer.

AGM: The Annual General Meeting of Lorrha GAA Club will take place in Moatfield on Tuesday 19th December at 8.00pm

Tipperary GAA Clubs Draw: The club had no winner in the November draw held last Friday night.

Camogie: Hard luck to the Junior ‘B’ Camogie team who were defeated in the County final by Ballina last Saturday.
