Congratulations to the Lorrha Junior hurlers who defeated Borrisokane 1-11 to 1-9 in a hard fought North Junior ‘B’ League semi-final in Moatfield on a wet and windy Friday evening June 9th.  They will play either Newport or Roscrea in the final, likely on weekend 24-25 June and we wish them well.

Variety Concert.

Lorrha National School are holding a variety concert on Wednesday 14th June in Lorrha Hall at 7.30pm .  The pupils will be singing, dancing, sketches, German and loads, loads more with even parents getting in on the act!!  All Welcome.

Church News.

Sunday June 18th is the Feast of Corpus Christi. Those who have received First Eucharist and Confirmation are invited to attend Mass in Rathcabbin Church at 11.30am.
The Annual  Killaloe Diocesan  Pilgrimage to  Knock Shrine will take place on Sunday,  2nd July. Names to  Betty Houlihan  on 087 –  6667374.  You are asked to please book your seat as soon as possible.
A day of prayer, reflection and enlightenment will take place in Crescent College Comprehensive SJ, Dooradoyle, Loimerick on Saturday 24th June from 9am to 5pm. Speakers include Bishop Willie Walsh, Fr. Eamonn Conway, Sr. Jo O’Donovan, Eileen Kane, Ronan Barry, Patrick Muldoon, Paddy Carberry SJ and Donal Neary SJ. Hot lunch, snacks, tea and coffee included in the price which is €25. For promoters of the Sacred Heart Messenger the cost is €15. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament every Thursday from 10.00am to 8.00pm in  Rathcabbin  Church. We invite all parishioners to come and stay a while in the presence of Jesus.

Southwest Michigan Chorale.

With support from members of the Active Retirement Ireland Mid-Western Regional Committee, the Southwest Michigan Chorale from Michigan State USA, are delighted to present a special concert programme of choral works in the beautiful setting of St. John’s Cathedral, Limerick on Saturday 17th June 2017, at 12 noon. A group from Roscrea will be joining them on stage.  Entrance is free to all, so please join us for what we are sure will be a wonderful afternoon of music. All are welcome!

CAVA AGM.

North Tipperary Community & Voluntary Association (CAVA) are holding their Annual General Meeting (AGM)  on Wednesday, 21st June 2017 in St. Ruadhan’s Community Centre, Lorrha commencing at 8pm.  Registration from 7.30pm.  All are welcome.

Date for your Diary.

Sunday Mass will be celebrated in Lorrha Cemetery at 10.00am on Sunday 2nd July. This will be an occasion to celebrate our St. Ruadhan.

Summer De-Clutter.

When cleaning out your wardrobe to make room for the summer collection, please remember Lorrha Development/Tidy Towns who continue to collect unwanted clothes throughout the year. Items of clothing must be clean and dry and in good condition please and we can supply bags if you want. We can also collect to make it easy for you, just call (086) 8647166, (086) 8493595 or (087) 2601413 with your name and details. Please note we cannot accept Duvets, bedding, household linen, pillows, cushions, carpets, rugs and maths including bath toilet and shower math’s, soiled or wet clothing but good quality unwanted clothing for re-use (not recycling). All money raised from all fundraising ventures is used for the ongoing work around Lorrha Village which helps to keep one adult employed. Many thanks for your continued support.

Lorrha Camogie:

Best of luck to all our players and their friends doing their Junior and Leaving Cert exams this week.

Congratulations to our Junior camogie panel and management on winning the County League final recently against Ballina.

Training continues each week, all players are asked to make every effort to attend training as the season continues.

Well Done.

Congratulations to the Lorrha Junior hurling team who had a two point victory over Borrisokane in the North semi final on a wet and miserable Friday evening last in Motefield. We wish the team and management the best of luck in the final.

Clean Up.

Redwood N.S  are holding a Tidy–Up evening on Thursday 15th June from 6pm, in Redwood School. All help appreciated on the evening. Please bring along paint brushes, buckets etc. Call  090 9747186  for enquiries.

GAA News

Senior: Lorrha’s next game is against Ballina in round 4 of the County League on Sunday 25 June at 12 noon.

Under 14: Lorrha Rovers Gaels hurlers began their championship campaign last Wednesday, away to Borris-Ileigh but lost 6-9 to 3-8. This evening, Wednesday, they host Portroe in Moatfield at 7.30pm. Next Wednesday, 21st June, they host Roscrea in Moatfield at 6.30pm

Under 12: The U12 hurlers get back in action next Friday when they play Burgess in Kilcolman at 7.15pm

Celtic Challenge: Well done to Daniel O’Donoghue and the Tipperary North-Mid U17 team who defeated South-East Clare in the section 2 quarter final in Birr last Saturday and are now through to the semi-finals next weekend.

Lory Meagher Cup Final: Former Lorrha player Declan Molloy lined out in goals for his adopted Leitrim in their Lory Meagher Cup final defeat to Warwickshire at Croke Park last Saturday.

Tipperary GAA Clubs Draw: Thank you to all those who joined the Tipperary Draw with the club. We managed to increase our number of subscribers by around 20 which is great news which means an extra €1000 come to the club this year. Thanks to all our promoters for their work in promoting the draw and to Margaret Gleeson for coordinating it.The first draw took place last Friday but the club didn’t have a winner but there are plenty of opportunities to come in the next eleven months to be successful.

Cul Camp: This years Lorrha Kellogg’s Cul Camp takes place in Moatfield from Monday 24th to Friday 28th July from 10am to 2.30pm each day. Camp is open for 6-13 year olds, to register, go to www.kelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie and find the Lorrha camp in the Tipperary listing. The camp costs €60 for one child, €50 for a second and €40 for a third or more children and they will be provided with full camp kit.
