Easter week-end was a good one for sport in the Premier County. The senior ladies beat Waterford 4.14 to 2.10 in the Munster quarter final. They play Limerick in the semi-final on May 7th in the Ragg Camogie pitch.

The senior hurlers beat Wexford 5.18 to 1.19 in the National League Semi Final, line out pictured. They go on to play Galway in the final on Sunday 23rd April at 3.30pm in The Gaelic Grounds. Tipperary will be aiming for their first league final success since 2009.

Volunteers Required.

April is National Spring clean month and because of ongoing maintenance needing to be done around Lorrha village, i.e. sweeping, cleaning, weeding, painting etc., volunteers are invited to give some time to this work. This can be done at a time of your own choosing. Lorrha Development will not be setting any specific work evenings this summer so any help you can give will be appreciated. Contact any member of the Development committee.

Ploughing Celebrations.

North Tipperary ploughing committee are holding a tree planting ceremony on Saturday evening April 22nd at Rathcabbin Hall at 8.00p.m. The National Director Anna May McHugh is invited to attend along with the National chairman P.J. Lynam.  The event is to mark the foundation of North Tipperary Ploughing fifty two years ago which happened at a meeting held in Rathcabbin Hall. A presentation will be made afterwards in Kelly’s to one of the founders Dinny Duffy, who retired recently. Dinny served for many years as secretary and later as representative on the National committee. All are invited to come along and join in celebrating this memorable occasion.

Church News.

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament every Thursday from 10.00am to 8.00pm in  Rathcabbin  Church.We invite all parishioners to come and stay a while in the presence of Jesus. Eucharistic Adoration National Pilgrimage to Knock will take place on Sunday, April 30th.

Summer De-Clutter.

When cleaning out your wardrobe to make room for the summer collection, please remember Lorrha Development/Tidy Towns who continue to collect unwanted clothes throughout the year. Items of clothing must be clean and dry and in good condition please and we can supply bags if you want. We can also collect to make it easy for you, just call (086) 8647166, (086) 8493595 or (087) 2601413 with your name and details. Please note we cannot accept Duvets, bedding, household linen, pillows, cushions, carpets, rugs and maths including bath toilet and shower math’s, soiled or wet clothing. All money raised from all fundraising ventures is used for the ongoing work around Lorrha Village which helps to keep two adults employed. Many thanks for your continued support.

Lorrha Camogie:

The Lorrha Junior Camogie team take on Ballingarry this Sat 22nd Apr in the County League semi-final. This match will take place at 6.30pm in the camogie grounds in the Ragg. All support greatly appreciated. Best of luck to the panel and management.

Memorial Walk.

The Milford Hospice 5KM Memorial Walk will take place on Sunday, May 28th at the University of Limerick with a start time of 12 noon. This event is suitable for those of all levels of fitness and ability and the centre’s organisers are asking anyone who wishes to take part to register for the event as soon as possible, there is no entry fee, but the organizers are encouraging people to seek sponsorship for the lunchtime walk or else to make a donation. The walk will commence at University of Limerick Sports Arena and will finish on the grounds of Milford Care Centre.  Participants will have the opportunity to place a handwritten on colourful ribbon that will adorn a special memorial tree, on the grounds of Milford. A special Memorial Pin will also be presented to each participant.  Refreshments will also be available after this memorial occasion. It’s necessary for everyone to register on www.eventmaster.ie , alternatively registration and sponsorship cards can be arranged by contacting the Fundraising Department at 061 485859, between 9am & 5pm, Monday to Friday; by email to fundraisind@milfordcarecentre.ie.
