2017 Lorrha Parish Calendar Launch.

The annual launch of the parish calendar for 2017 will take place on Saturday night November 5th in The Friars Tavern, Lorrha at 9pm. The launch will be preceded by a three course meal in The Shed and anyone interested in attending is asked to contact Mary on (087) 2601413 or Rose on (086) 8647166 on or before Wednesday Nov 2nd for numbers purposes. A special guest will be present to launch the calendar.

Sympathy.

Sympathy is extended to the wife, daughter, father and sisters of Joe Styles, Dublin who died suddenly on September 4th. at the age of 54. He was pre-deceased by his mother Iris just nine month’s ago. Joe’s dad Jimmy hailed from Rathcabbin and many will remember the family who lived in Cullagh. Burial took place in Dublin. May he rest in peace.

Late Gertie O’Meara.

The death took place on Sunday 16th October at Tullamore hospital of Gertie O’Meara, Lorrha. Nee Feehan from Roscrea, Gertie is survived by her family, husband Paddy, daughter Catherine, sons James and Pauric, sister Alice, grandchildren, son in law, daughters in-law and many friends. After funeral Mass in St. Ruadhan’s Church Lorrha on Wednesday 19th burial took place afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. May she rest in peace.

Rathcabbin Players.

The adjourned convention of Rathcabbin Players will take place on Thursday night 27th in Rathcabbin Hall at 9pm sharp. This is a very important meeting and is open to everyone who has any interest in the group, either getting involved on the committee, on stage or behind the scenes. We look forward to seeing you there.  Thank you for your support in the past and we look forward to your support in the future.

Halloween Fun.

A ghost walk will take place in Lorrha on Halloween night starting at 8.00pm from outside The Friars Tavern. All welcome.

Redwood N.S. Halloween Camp!!

Halloween Camp in Redwood N.S. for 3-8  year olds. Running Tuesday 01st  and Wednesday 02nd  November from 9.30am until 2.00 pm. Camp will be Halloween themed – Come in costume!!!

Halloween art & craft, cookery, i-pads, learning through play and lots and lots of spooky fun!!!

€15 per day or €25 for both days.

Church News.

Please take note that there will be no Mass in Redwood Church on next Saturday night, 29th October. On  Sunday, 30th October   –  Mass in Lorrha Church  at 10.00a.m. and in Rathcabbin Church at 11.30a.m.
Winter time Mass times which commence the first week-end in November will be as follows: Lorrha: Sundays – 10.00a.m. Rathcabbin:  Sundays – 11.30a.m. – unchanged. Redwood:    Vigil Mass at 7.30p.m.

Winter De-Clutter.

When cleaning out your wardrobe to make room for the winter collection, please remember Lorrha Development/Tidy Towns who continue to collect unwanted clothes throughout the year. Items of clothing must be clean and dry and in good condition please and we can supply bags if you want. We can also collect to make it easy for you, just call (086) 8647166, (086) 8493595 or (087) 2601413 with your name and details. Please note we cannot accept Duvets, bedding, household linen, pillows, cushions, carpets, rugs and maths including bath toilet and shower math’s, soiled or wet clothing. All money raised from all fundraising ventures is used for the ongoing work around Lorrha Village which helps to keep two adults employed. Many thanks for your continued support.

Tracing Relations.

Mary Jo Kaifer is looking for her Lorrha relations, the Carroll and Stanley families from Annagh, Lorrha. Her great, great grandmother was Jane Carroll Stanley and her husband John Stanley was her great, great grandfather. Their parents William Stanley who married Mary who was possibly a Hogan, and William Carroll married Nora Cadwell. Mary Jo is hoping that someone in the parish can help her fill in some blank spaces on her family tree.
