Fundraiser.

A fundraising Poker Classic in aid of Concern, will take place on Friday night September 16th in The Friars Tavern, Lorrha at 9pm. 5 card draw and entry fee is €20 with prizes pro rata. Your support will be appreciated for this worthy cause.

Tipp on the Double.

Well done to Patrick “Bonner” Maher, Brian Hogan and selector John Madden and the Tipperary senior team on their 2.29 to 2.20 victory over Kilkenny in the All – Ireland final on Sunday last. Once again Bonner served up a massive performance for his second All-Ireland medal and scored two points as well as setting up many more. He was also named on the RTE team of the year on Sunday night. Well done also to the Minor who finished 1.21 to 0.17 on their victory over Limerick. A great wee-end for Tipperary hurling.

Towards Peace is a service designed for those who have experienced sexual, physical, emotional or spiritual abuse by Catholic Church personnel in Ireland. Support is also available for family members of abuse survivors.

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament continues every Thursday from 10am to 10pm. in  Rathcabbin  Church. We invite all parishioners to come & stay a while in the presence of Jesus.

Autumn De-Clutter.

When cleaning out your wardrobe to make room for the autumn collection, please remember Lorrha Development/Tidy Towns who continue to collect unwanted clothes throughout the year. Items of clothing must be clean and dry and in good condition please and we can supply bags if you want. We can also collect to make it easy for you, just call (086) 8647166, (086) 8493595 or (087) 2601413 with your name and details. Please note we cannot accept Duvets, bedding, household linen, pillows, cushions, carpets, rugs and maths including bath toilet and shower math’s, soiled or wet clothing. All money raised from all fundraising ventures is used for the ongoing work around Lorrha Village which helps to keep two adults employed. Many thanks for your continued support.

Banagher Horse Fair.

The Annual Banagher Horse Fair 2016 will take place on Sunday 18th September. All are welcome.  Keeping the tradition alive.

Traineeship Opportunities in the CoR & EA Group

Twice a year the European Alliance group secretariat has the opportunity to have a trainee (University graduate) in the group for a five month period (there are possibilities across the CoR).  The dates the traineeships take place is from 16 February to 15 July (spring session) and from 16 September to 15 February of the following year (autumn session).

Traineeship beginning on the 16 February 2017, the deadline to apply is shortly approaching as applications need to be submitted by the 30 September 2016.

If you are aware of any University graduates who may be interested, please let them know.

GAA News

Junior Hurling: The Junior ‘B’ hurlers will play Portroe in the North semi-final on Saturday 17th September in Puckane at 6pm. Newport are already through to the final.

Under 21: All Under 21 players are asked to attend training with the juniors as the championship will get underway in late September.

Under 16: Lorrha Rovers played Silvermines in Ballinderry on Tuesday in the North quarter final and won a thriller 7-11 to 6-9. They progress to the North ‘A’ semi-final next Monday evening, opponent, venue and time to be confirmed.

Under 14: Well done to the Lorrha/Shannon Rovers Gaels U14’s who retained the North ‘B’ Hurling title following a 2-8 to 1-7 win over Ballinahinch/Templederry in Dolla on Saturday. The team progress to a semi-final against West champions Arravale Rovers in Newport this Saturday at 12 noon. Best of luck to the players and mentors.

Tipperary: Well done to Patrick Maher, Brian Hogan, John Madden and both the Tipperary senior and minor hurling teams on giving us such a wonderful day at Croke Park last Sunday in winning the All Ireland titles.
