Congratulations to Lorrha U12 team who had a comprehensive victory over Ballinahinch in the C final on Saturday last with mentors John Moylan, Denis Duffy and Caroline O’Meara. Well done all.IMG_9720 (2)

Lorrha’s Patrick Bonner Maher shakes off the challenge of Galway’s Daithi Burke in the All-Ireland semi final. Bonner had a massive game serving up a man of the match performance.

Recent Weddings.

Congratulations is extended to Deirdre Dermody (Lorrha) and Mark Harding (Terryglass) who were married recently in Ashley Park House. We also send congratulations to Eamon Maher (Rathcabbin) and Sinead Ryan (Lorrha) who were married recently. We wish both couples the best of luck in the future.

Lorrha Camogie:

Junior Camogie: Group 1 for championship matches include; Lorrha, Nenagh, Moyle Rovers and Ballina. Our first group match is against Nenagh in Nenagh on the weekend of 27th/28th Aug. Updates on time and date will be posted on our facebook page and local notes.

Golf.

Lorrha Parish Golf outing will take place in Portumna Golf Club on 27th August. This year’s Captain is Pascal Moran and the President is Martina Taffe. A time sheet is in operation from 9am to 12.45. Well Done

Well done to Patrick Maher, Brian Hogan and John Madden and the Tipperary senior hurling team on their All-Ireland semi-final win over Galway setting up a date with Kilkenny in the final on Sept 4th.

Congratulations to the Lorrha U10 team, the winners of the Hubie Hogan Perpetual Cup overcoming Toomevara, Na Fiannna (Enfield) and Tommy Larkins (Woodford) and also the U12 team who had a comprehensive victory over Ballinahinch in the C final on Saturday last. Well done to all.

Autumn De-Clutter.

Items of clothing must be clean and dry and in good condition please and we can supply bags if you want. Please note we cannot accept Duvets, bedding, household linen, pillows, cushions, carpets, rugs and maths including bath toilet and shower math’s, soiled or wet clothing. All money raised from all fundraising ventures is used for the ongoing work around Lorrha Village which helps to keep two adults employed. Many thanks for your continued support.

Portumna Heritage Week.

As part of Heritage Week (20th-28th), join the MineVention team at Portumna Workhouse – help build a replica of the workhouse in a “Build Battle” challenge, while learning tips with Minecraft; included is a meet-up with SnakeDoctor & Solidarity Gaming, a tour of the Workhouse, a quiz, a free-building / Lego room plus games on X-Boxes. The Dirt Diggers for Kids on Saturday, 27th August, 12.30 – 2.30 pm

Portumna’s Shorelines Arts Festival. Tickets now on sale!

GAA News.

Junior Hurling: Lorrha received a walkover from Moneygall in the third round last Saturday. Lorrha play Ballina this Saturday at 7pm in Moatfield in our final group game. Both teams are through to the quarter finals but the result will determine who finishes second and third and who plays Silvermines or Ballinahinch in the quarter finals.

Minor: Lorrha Rovers Gaels went down to a narrow 0-21 to 1-17 defeat to Portroe in Portroe last Wednesday. This evening (Wednesday) they host Borrisokane in Ballinderry at 7pm needing a win to stay in the hunt for the semi-finals.

Under 16: Lorrha Rovers played Kilruane MacDonaghs in round 5 last Monday week and lost 2-8 to 0-10. Last Monday in their penultimate game, they took on Silvermines in Dolla but lost 4-8 to 1-13. Next Monday, 22nd August in their final group game we play Borris-Ileigh in Ballinderry at 6.30pm.
Under 14: Lorrha Rovers Gaels had a comprehensive win over Newport in the North ‘B’ quarter final in Moatfield last Wednesday. This evening (Wednesday) at 7pm, they play Burgess in the semi-final in Moatfield. All support would be appreciated.
Under 12: Congratulations to the Under 12 hurlers and management of Denis Duffy, Caroline O’Brien, John Moylan and Michael O’Meara on guiding the team to the North ‘C’ title in Portroe on Saturday. We wish them the best in the County semi-final against West champions Lattin-Cullen/Aherlow in Borrisoleigh this Saturday 20thAugust at 1.30pm

Tipperary: Congratulations to Patrick Maher, Brian Hogan, John Madden and both the Tipperary senior and minor hurling teams on their All Ireland semi-final wins against Galway on Sunday. Best of luck to the Tipperary senior footballers in the All Ireland semi-final against Mayo this Sunday.
All Ireland Football Semi-Final Tickets: can still be bought online or through Centra and SuperValu stores. The club does not have any more tickets for the game.

All Ireland Hurling Final Tickets: It is hoped to have the draw for All Ireland Final tickets late next week to get them into circulation as early as possible to allow those that aren’t successful in the draw to get searching. Tickets will be drawn among fully paid up 2016 members only.
