Lorrha Calendar Goes On Sale.

The 2016 Lorrha/Dorrha Parish Calendar is on sale throughout the parish. Lorrha Development/Tidy Towns wish to extend thanks to all who support the calendar through advertisement and providing photographs, to Theresa and Barry Walker and staff in The Ferry Inn for all their help and support and for the lovely meal served at the launch of the calendar on Saturday night last. Thanks also to the musicians “Puca Lane” for providing a wonderful night’s entertainment which was enjoyed by all and many thanks to all of you who attended the launch.

Date For Your Diary.

The annual Lorrha Christmas Market and Auction will take place as like previous years, on the first Sunday in December which falls this year on the 6th. We will be having all the usual fun of the fair as well as the auction for fuel, fodder etc. Anyone wishing to donate items for the auction can contact Louis on (086) 8493595 or any member of the committee.  Anyone wishing to book a table for the market can contact Mary at (090) 9747196 or Liz at (090) 9747893 or any member of the committee.

Church News.

Mass on Wednesday, 11th November in Lorrha Church at 7.30p.m. This Mass will be offered for the Holy Souls. This coming Friday (13th November) we will have our annual Mass of Remembrance at  7.30p.m.  in  Rathcabbin Church  for all who have died in our community. The names of those who have died in the past year will be read aloud, and a member of the family or a friend will be invited to bring a lighted candle to the sanctuary. You can remember to pray for members of your family by lighting a candle and offering a prayer for your loved ones who have gone to God. Day Retreat, Tuesday 1st December, 10am – 4 pm, – day of Prayer, Mass, (meals included) in Mount St. Joseph’s Abbey,  Roscrea.  Telephone for booking – 0505 25610.

Cemetery Committee.

Lorrha Cemetery Committee reminder that plastic bags, wrappings, dead flowers etc. should be removed and disposed of when placing fresh flowers on graves. These afore mentioned are unsightly when left to be blown around the cemetery.

Active Retirement.

St. Ruadhan’s ARA are happy to see so many of their members attend their 10th Anniversary celebrations. Many Thanks is offered to all who organized it. Their next outing is to Moneygall on the 11th of November. More details from Nancy on (090) 9747922.

Lorrha Camogie AGM:

The Lorrha Camogie AGM will be held in the clubhouse on Saturday 14th November at 7pm. We ask all parents of juvenile camogie players to attend along with representatives of the GAA Club and all adult junior camogie players. We have important decisions to make regarding the future of the club and it is imperative that we have a good turnout at this meeting to discuss the future of the club at all age levels. Everybody is welcome and your attendance at this meeting and interest in the club is most appreciated.

Presentation.

The presentation of certificates to the Cardiac First Responder and First Aid course graduates will take place in Rathcabbin Hall on Friday 13th November at 8.30 pm sharp commencing with a wine reception. Rathcabbin defibrillator sponsors are invited to attend.

Save The Date.

The ever popular Christmas show performed annually by the children of Redwood NS will take place on Thursday, 03rd December at 7pm in Redwood Church. Headlining the show this year is  ‘The Grinch who stole Christmas’ produced by drama teacher Jared Madden.

Training Workshop.

The Galway Suicide Rescue Office in conjunction with the Portumna & District Lions Club are holding a two day Training Workshop to help individuals recognise and intervene to assist people at risk of suicide within their work community or family group.   The A.I.S.T. Training Workshop is a two day Training Programme and is suitable for all kinds of care givers, professional workers, volunteers, people responding to family and friends (over 18 years) contact 087 1524200.

Winter De-Clutter.

Thinking of clearing out the wardrobe to make room for the Winter collection? Lorrha Development/ Tidy Towns continue with unused clothes collection throughout the Winter months. De-clutter your wardrobe, attack your attic, recycle all unwanted/unused items of clothing to make room for your Winter collection. We will accept any kind of bag or in bags provided by the committee. We can collect your unwanted items. Just call or text  (086) 8647166, (086) 8493595 or (086) 8355405 with your name and details. Please note we cannot accept Duvets, bedding, household linen, pillows and cushions, carpets, rugs and mats (including bath, shower and toilet mats), soiled or wet clothing. We appreciate your support. All money raised from all fundraising ventures is used for the ongoing work around Lorrha Village which helps to keep two adults employed.
