Supporters from local areas outside the Courthouse in Loughrea last week where two local men John Darcy and Pat Reddan are involved in an ongoing court case concerning turf cutting issues on Barroughter and Clonmoylan bogs outside Portumna. Speech & Drama Lessons.

Pre-school Speech and Drama lessons will take place on Thursdays starting on November 5th from 3.10 to 4.00pm for 3-4 year olds, in Lorrha N.S. Please ring (090) 9747295 to enrol your child.

Congratulations and best wishes is extended to Theresa Dunne Walker, The Ferry Inn on the occasion of her 40th birthday. Theresa celebrated the occasion in style with her family and friends recently. Well done Theresa.

Enable Ireland Sing Song & Disco

On Sunday, October 25th, Moneygall’s Henry Healy will open a 12 hour music song and dance marathon for Enable Ireland in Kelly’s, Rathcabbin. If you like to sing, play dance or just listen, please call in for a while to support this great cause. A children’s fancy dress discowill be held in Rathcabbin Hall from 4-6pm with face painting and Halloween treats, entry by donation to Enable Ireland.

A draw for prizes worth €1,000 sponsored by Corrib Oil, Bord na Móna, Tippland Horticulture and Roscrea Leisure Centre will be held before the big boogie with DJ Ray – fancy dress welcome. Lots of prizes guaranteed, thanks to the generous sponsorship of local businesses.

Redwood N.S. Halloween Camp!!

Halloween Camp in Redwood N.S. for 3-10 year olds. Running Tuesday 27th and Wednesday 28th October from 9.30am until 2.00 pm. Camp will be Halloween themed – Come in costume!!!

Halloween art & craft, cookery, computers – blogging, i-pads, learning through play and lots and lots of spooky fun!!!

Zombie Mile for Temple Street

On October 30th there will be a charity zombie mile taking place at the athletics track in Borrisokane. We need to raise vital funds for Temple Street Hospital so please have some fun, dress up like a zombie and join us on the night. The mile will start at 7pm so grab as many zombie family and friends you can find and do your part. Donations on the night

Calendar Launch.

The launch of the 2016 Lorrha Parish Calendar will take place in The Ferry Inn on Saturday night November 7th. at 9.30p.m. Music on the night by the popular Puca Lane who have just launched their new CD of the same name. All are invited to a good night of entertainment. The AGM was held on Thursday night last and the following were elected. Chairman Louis McCormack, Vice do. Mary Walsh, Liz Hussey, Secretary Mary Coen, Treasurer and PRO Rose Mannion. The committee extend thanks to all who helped and supported them in the past and look forward to your continued support.

Date For Your Diary.

The annual Lorrha Christmas Market and Auction will take place as like previous years, on the first Sunday in December which falls this year on the 6th. We will be having all the usual fun of the fair as well as the auction for fuel, fodder etc. Anyone wishing to donate items for the auction can contact Louis on (086) 8493595 or any member of the committee.  Anyone wishing to book a table for the market can contact Mary at (090) 9747196 or Liz at (090) 9747893 or any member of the committee.

Winter De-Clutter.

Thinking of clearing out the wardrobe to make room for the Winter collection? Lorrha Development/ Tidy Towns continue with unused clothes collection throughout the Winter months. De-clutter your wardrobe, attack your attic, recycle all unwanted/unused items of clothing to make room for your Winter collection. We will accept any kind of bag or in bags provided by the committee. We can collect your unwanted items. Just call or text  (086) 8647166, (086) 8493595 or (086) 8355405 with your name and details. Please note we cannot accept Duvets, bedding, household linen, pillows and cushions, carpets, rugs and mats (including bath, shower and toilet mats), soiled or wet clothing. We appreciate your support. All money raised from all fundraising ventures is used for the ongoing work aroundLorrha Village which helps to keep two adults employed.

Monster Auction.

Portumna Rugby Pitch Development – Monster Auction on Sunday 1st November at 12.30pm in Portumna Mart. Items such as Turf, Timber, Animal Feedstuffs, Electrical Goods and much more will be available on the day. All proceeds are going towards the development of new playing facilities for everyone in the wider community to enjoy. Please come along and support.

Mucky Runners.

Mucky Runners 2015 Bank Holiday Monday 26th of October Portumna Forest Park Fun Mucky Obstacle Course for everyone aged 6yrs to 600yrs! Mucky Ducks Race 6yrs to 11yrs race starts at 12.30. Mucky Runners Race (Juniors/Adults/Teams) Race starts at 1.30pm. Registration on the day from 10am to 12 sharp in Forest Car Park. GAA News.

Lotto: The numbers drawn last week were: 3 – 4 – 28 – 29. No Winner. No Match 3s. Lucky Dips: Anne Coughlan (Lorrha), Elizabeth Houlihan, Kathleen & Cat Burke, Tracey Hogan. Promoters: Brophys, Mulrooney’s Gala and the Ferry Inn. Our jackpot is now €3,150. Thank you for your continued support. Under 21 Hurling: The U21 hurlers are awaiting the draw for the next round of the Championship. They have secured a bye straight to the semi-finals. The team played Loughmore/Castleiney in a useful challenge match last weekend.

Race Night: The club will be hosting a fundraising Race Night in the GAA Centre next Saturday, 24th October with first race at 9.00pm. We have had a fantastic response so far and horses are currently being sold at the moment at €10 and your support would be appreciated.

Auction: This years Auction will take place on Sunday, 13th December.

Club Gear: The club are putting together an order for Club Gear, in the run up to the Christmas period. Graham Downes (0879905870) will be compiling the order and will provide prices for adults and kids sizes. Items available include Jerseys, Windcheater Jacket, Rain Top, Tracksuit Top, Polo-Shirt, T-Shirt and Gear bag. Closing date for the receipt of orders is Friday, 13th November to allow for them to be ready for Christmas.

Tipperary GAA Club Draw: Congratulations to Michael Naylor, Rockview, who won €200 in this months Confined Draw.

Social Dancing: continues on Friday night to the music of the Moynihan Brothers. Dancing 9.30pm to 12.30am. Practice every Monday night from 8.30-10.30pm.
