Seamus was joined by his parents Anna May and Martin, brothers Tom, David, Ruadhan and Charlie and sisters Carmel and Helen on this wonderful occasion.

News From Lorrha School.

Arrival of National Flag: A member of the 12BN, Sarsfield Barracks, Limerick will visit Lorrha School on Thursday 1st October at 9.30am to deliver the National Flag as tasked by the Government. The ceremony will include a brief introduction, questions on the proclamation and flag and also the reading of a pre-selected extract of the proclamation by a student. The ceremony will last for no longer than thirty minutes and everyone is invited to attend.

After School Activities. Guitar, keyboard, and French classes have commenced after school see www.lorrhans.ie for dates and times. Pre-School Speech and Drama lessons for children aged 3- 4 years will commence on Thursday 5th November from 3.10pm to 4pm. This course involves clear speech, oral presentation, mime, show and tell etc. By completing this course children will gain great self confidence and will have an opportunity to learn and enjoy poetry, rhymes and songs. Many congratulations is extended to Seamus Corrigan, son of Anna May and Martin, Portland, Lorrha who received his Solemn Profession of final vows on September 8th. Br. Seamus OCSO, who is a past pupil of Lorrha N.S. is attached to Mt. Melleray Abbey in Co. Waterford. Well done Br. Seamus and you are wished many years of happiness and fulfilment in the religious life.

Double Celebration Reminder.

St Rudhans Church of Ireland in Lorrha will celebrate its Bi-Centennial and parishioners will also hold the annual Harvest Thanksgiving Service on Sunday 4th October at 3.00pm, led by Bishop Kenneth Kearon, Bishop of Killaloe. Tea and refreshments will be served in the hall afterwards and all are welcome.

Church News.

Mass of Harvest thanksgiving will take place in Rathcabbin Church on Sunday next October 4th at 11.00am. You are asked to please note the time. First Friday Mass will be celebrated in Lorrha Church at 9.30am on Friday morning next with confessions beforehand and in Rathcabbin Church at 9.30am there will be Liturgy of the Word and Communion. Fr. Flann Lynch O.F.M. CAP., will give a talk on VISION, a life changing programme, in the Pastoral Centre, Church Road, Nenagh on Sunday October 4th from 10.00am to 2.00pm. All are welcome. First Response Courses Reminder.

The final two cardiac first response courses are on Friday 2nd October 7-10.30pm and Saturday 3rd October 6-9pm in Rathcabbin hall costing €10. The ideal would be that every townland would have at least one to two cardiac first responders. If you live in Coolross,  around the Pike, or along the Borrisokane road from Ravakeen to Kilcarron and would like to learn this simple lifesaving skill please contact Darina 0579139981/0872140412 to book a place.  Teenagers can attend also. A first aid course also run by Birr First Responders Group will take place on Monday 12th  October 2015 in Rathcabbin Hall at 7pm costing €35. Book your place at the number above.

Well Done.

Well done to Lorrha / Rovers Gaels U-16 ‘B’ hurling team on their Co. Semi final win over Cahir on a score line of 2-14 to 1-3 on Saturday last. They play Eire og Annacarthy on Saturday next Oct. 3rd in the County final and we wish all concerned the best of luck. See fixtures in local papers for time and venue.

Camogie.

The best of luck is extended to the junior team who are in a two way play off with Portroe which has been fixed for Sunday 4th at 1pm in Portroe to see who will progress to the semi-finals. If travelling to support the girls, do confirm time and venue with club.

Redwood N.S.

Congratulations to Emily Needham on winning 3rd place overall in the Prose section of the children’s writing competition as part of the Shorelines festival, recently held in Portumna. Well done to all the children who took part and to the organisers of the festival.

Recent New Arrival.

Congratulations is extended to Martina Houlihan and Paul Kennedy, Lorrha on the recent addition to the family, a boy, Lee. A little brother for Chloe to play with. Well done to all.

Thinking of clearing out the wardrobe to make room for the Winter collection? Lorrha Development/ Tidy Towns continue with unused clothes collection throughout the Winter months. De-clutter your wardrobe, attack your attic, recycle all unwanted/unused items of clothing to make room for your Winter collection. Please note we cannot accept Duvets, bedding, household linen, pillows and cushions, carpets, rugs and mats (including bath, shower and toilet mats), soiled or wet clothing. We appreciate your support. All money raised from all fundraising ventures is used for the ongoing work around Lorrha Village which helps to keep two adults employed.

Art & German Classes

Junior Football: Our Junior footballers exited the championship last Wednesday evening following a heavy defeat to Newport in Ballingarry. Thanks to Joe Dolan, Graham Downes and the players for their efforts in recent weeks.

Under 21 Hurling: Lorrha will play Templederry in the opening round of the North U21 ‘B’ Championship in Toomevara this Saturday at 5pm.

Under 16: Congratulations to the Lorrha/Shannon Rovers team who defeated Cahir 2-15 to 1-3 in the County semi-final in Templemore on Saturday afternoon. Best of luck to the Lorrha panellists David Sullivan, Daniel O’Donoghue, Tomas Kennedy, Alan O’Meara, Oliver Cleary and Aleksandrs Semjonovs, selector Pat Kennedy and the rest of the players when they play Gortnahoe/Glengoole in the County final in Annacarty this Saturday, 3rd October at 12 noon.

Table Quiz: Thank you to all those who supported our Table Quiz fundraiser in support of the Juvenile Club, a massive 22 tables took part which was a great response to the work done by the organising committee.

Race Night: The club will be hosting a fundraising Race Night in the GAA Centre on Saturday, 24th October. We will be selling horses over the coming weeks and your support would be appreciated.

Tipperary GAA Clubs Draw: We ask all promoters to bring their accounts up to date ahead of the October Draw which will be held this Friday night.

Social Dancing: continues on Friday night to the music of Muriel O’Connor. Dancing 9.30pm to 12.30am. Practice every Monday night from 8.30-10.30pm.
