Lorrha Parish Golf Outing Proved Very Successful.

The captain Denis Duffy Jnr. presented his prize to his father Denis Snr. Who had a tremendous score of 41 points off white markers playing off 12 handicap and age in excess of eighty years. This was easily the most outstanding score of the Society since its annual outing started in 1990 and we heartily congratulate Denis. The President Pauline Needham’s prize was won by Tony Coen on the back nine with 21 points. Twenty five players won prizes and on a lovely day with Birr Golf course in tremendous condition a enjoyable outing was had by all. We extend thanks to Birr Golf club and all who took part.

CPR Course For Teenagers.

A CPR course for teenagers aged between 14 and 17 years of age will take place in Rathcabbin Hall on Saturday 5th September from 6 to 9pm. Please contact Darina on- 057 9139981 or Betty on 087 6667374 to book your place.

Cardiac First Responders Course.

The first C.F.R. course will take place in Rathcabbin Hall on Friday 4th September at 7p.m sharp. Because of the huge response a second course will be held on Friday 18th September in the same venue and time. If you are not sure of which course you are on please contact Darina on 057 9139981. A further course is planned for early October if there is enough of interest. Watch this space for further details.

Lourdes Pilgrimage.

The Autumn Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes will leave Shannon Airport on Sunday, Oct. 4th, returning on Friday, October 9th. Autumn De-Clutter.

Thinking of clearing out the wardrobe to make room for the Autumn collection? Lorrha Development/ Tidy Towns continue with unused clothes collection throughout the Summer months. De-clutter your wardrobe, attack your attic, recycle all unwanted/unused items of clothing to make room for your Autumn collection. Please note we cannot accept Duvets, bedding, household linen, Pillows and cushions, Carpets, rugs and mats (including bath, shower and toilet mats), Soiled or wet clothing. We appreciate your support. All money raised from all fundraising ventures is used for the ongoing work around Lorrha Village which helps to keep two adults employed.

Art  Exhibition.

Portumna’s Shorelines Arts Exhibition 2015 will run this year from 4th-26th September at The Gallery at The Workhouse. Local artists wishing to submit a piece are asked to bring it to the Workhouse on Monday 24th August from 6-7.30 pm. Further details from 086-3195603.

Sarah Killeen School of Dance:
Classical Ballet classes resume next week at The Engine Room, Portumna on Saturday 5th September. The school offers tuition to students of all ages from Pre-school to Grade work following the RAD syllabus. GAA News.

Lotto: Our jackpot is now €6,000. Thank you for your continued support. You can play our lotto online at www.locallotto.ie where it is easy to play every week. Tickets are €2 each or three for €5.

Senior: Lorrha are through to the last 16 of the county championship and have been drawn against Eire Og Annacarty in the preliminary quarter finals which will be on Sunday, 13 September at The Ragg at 3.30pm. We have already lost to the West champions in the group stage of the county championship last May.

Junior Football: The junior footballers received a walkover from Shannon Rovers in the first round on Sunday morning. Lorrha’s have two further games to play against Newport and Ballina.

Under 21 Hurling: Lorrha have been drawn against Templederry in the first round of the North ‘B’ Championship with this competition set to get underway in October.

Under 16: Lorrha/Shannon Rovers played Burgess in the North ‘B’ semi-final last Monday evening in Ballinderry and won 5-11 to 2-9 and will now play Borrisokane in the final on Saturday, 12th September.

Juvenile Fundraising Table Quiz: will be held on Saturday, 26th September at 9pm in Moatfield. Table of 4 – €40. Top prize €200. Raffle on the night with the top prize of a hamper.

Tipperary GAA Clubs Draw: We ask all promoters to bring their accounts up to date.

Tipperary: Congratulations to the Tipp minor footballers on beating Kildare to reach the All Ireland Final.

Bext of luck to the Tipperary minor hurlers in the All Ireland Final against Galway this Sunday.
