The light aircraft carrying two adults and two children which developed engine failure and was forced to land in a field owned by Tim Reddan, Millform, Lorrha. The incident occurred on Christmas Eve as the family were on their way from England to Galway to visit relatives.

Church News.

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament every Thursday 10am to 10pm in Rathcabbin Church. All parishioners are invited to come and stay awhile in the presence of Jesus.

Sympathy.

Sympathy is extended to the family and relatives of the late Sally McCarthy, Cork, nee Sullivan, late of Coolross, Rathcabbin who died on January 5th. After funeral Mass in Timoleague Church on Wednesday 7th cremation took place at the Island Crematorium, Ringaskiddy. May she rest in peace.

Tipp FM Recording.

A Tipp FM recording of ‘Down Your Way’ will take place in Kelly’s Rathcabbin on Sunday 18th at 3p.m. This special recording will mark two notable events in the parish during 2015. The 30th Anniversary of Rathcabbin Players and the 50th Anniversary of North Tipperary Ploughing. There will also be individual recordings with music and craic the order of the day and evening. There’s an open invitation extended to all to come along and enjoy this special occasion. All are welcome.

Spring  De-Clutter.

Thinking of clearing out the wardrobe to make room for the Spring collection? Lorrha Development/ Tidy Towns continue with unused clothes collection throughout the Winter  months. De-clutter your wardrobe, attack your attic, recycle all unwanted/unused items of clothing to make room for your Spring collection. We will accept any kind of bag or in bags provided by the committee. We can collect your unwanted items. Just call or text  (086) 8647166, (086) 8493595 or (086) 8355405 with your name and details. We appreciate your support. All money raised from all fundraising ventures is used for the ongoing work around Lorrha Village which helps to keep two adults employed.

Portumna College of Further Education has vacancies on the following courses: Horticulture Level 4/5; 5 places available. Retail Practice Level 4/5; 8 places available. Smile Awhile & Laugh a Little Every Day. Two elderly gentlemen from a retirement centre were sitting on a bench under a tree when one turns to the other and says: ‘Slim, I’m 83 years old now and I’m just full of aches and pains. I know you’re about my age. How do you feel?’ Slim says, ‘I feel just like a newborn baby.’

‘Really!? Like a newborn baby!?’ ‘Yep. No hair, no teeth, and I think I just wet my pants.’
