Sister and brother Lisa and Tom Duggan secured a table at the Lorrha Development Christmas Market and Auction where they sold home made baking i.e Ginger Bread Houses, Rocky Roads etc as well as various other items. Both pupils in  Lorrha School, they are to be complimented for their initiative.  Well done to you both and keep up the good work.

Reminder.

You can still purchase a copy of the  2015 Lorrha Parish Calendar which is on sale throughout the parish. The calendar is packed from front cover to back with photographs from the past and the present. Proceeds from the sale of the calendar is used towards the upkeep of Lorrha Village. Sympathy.

Sympathy is extended to the family of  Willie Joe Treacy, formerly of Dominic Street, Portumna, and London, currently of Portland, Lorrha who passed away peacefully on Friday December 26th. Private cremation took place at Mount Jerome Crematorium on Friday January 2nd. May he rest in peace.  Sympathy is extended to Linda Gill and family, Rathcabbin on the sudden and unexpected death of her sister Evelyn Ann Newton, Birr and formerly Aughrim, Ballinasloe who passed away on Tuesday 30th Dec. After Funeral Service in the Holy Trinity Church, Aughrim on Friday Jan 2nd burial took place in the adjoining Churchyard. May she rest in peace.
Church News.

Please note that there will be no Mass in Redwood Church on Saturday night 10th January. Mass as usual on Sunday the 11th at 10.00am in Lorrha and at 11.30am in Rathcabbin. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will recommence on Thursday 8th January in Rathcabbin Church from 10.00am to 10.00pm. All are welcome.

Rathcabbin Development Draw Results.

The winner of the first prize load of timber was Michael Hoctor,  the hamper was won by Martha Kennedy and the fuel prize was won by Mary Dermody. Many thanks to all who supported the draw and to the ticket sellers.

Redwood NS

Congratulations to all the children on putting on a fantastic and hugely enjoyable Christmas Variety Show and to their parents for all their support and encouragement and for having their children so well turned out on the night. A huge thank you to all those who came to the show and to everybody who supported our raffle. Well done to Tommy Needham and Ruadhan Sullivan on winning the Christmas hampers and to all those who won spot prizes. Thank you also to everyone who sponsored timber, turf and prizes. Your support is hugely appreciated.

30th Anniversary.

This year marks the 30th Anniversary of Rathcabbin Players and to celebrate the occasion the group have chosen a three act comedy ‘Wild Goose Chase’ written by Derek Benfield and directed by Banagher man Brendan Dolan. The play will be staged in Rathcabbin Hall on January 30th. 31st and February 1st. and the second week-end on Feb. 5th. 6th. 7th and 8th. So make it a date and come along and join the group for their celebration comedy.

Winter De-Clutter.

Lorrha Development/ Tidy Towns continue with unused clothes collection throughout the Winter  months. De-clutter your wardrobe, attack your attic, recycle all unwanted/unused items of clothing to make room for your Winter collection. We will accept any kind of bag or in bags provided by the committee. We can collect your unwanted items. Just call or text  (086) 8647166, (086) 8493595 or (086) 8355405 with your name and details. We appreciate your support. All money raised from all fundraising ventures is used for the ongoing work around Lorrha Village which helps to keep two adults employed.

C.A.V.A.  (North Tipperary Community and Voluntary Association) AGM

North Tipperary Community and Voluntary Association are holding their Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, 14th January 2015 in the OBAMA Plaza, Moneygall, at 7.30pm.  We would like to see all Community groups in North Tipperary represented at this meeting.

Each group will have the opportunity to register with Tipperary PPN and thus join with CAVA in empowering Community and developing structures for the Tipperary Public Participation Network which ensures that they are fit for purpose and of optimum benefit to your group and your community.

North Tipperary Ploughing will celebrate their 50th Anniversary in March and to mark the occasion the ploughing championships will take place on Sunday March 1st. on the lands of Sean Lamb and family, by kind permission, Ballincur Cross, Lorrha.

FREE SPEECH AND LANGUAGE THERAPY TALKS!

These talks will be given from Clinic Director of Caint Speech Therapy and Senior Speech and Language Therapist, Catherine Devaney. Catherine is from Nenagh herself, and would like to offer these talks to parents and teachers in Nenagh and the surrounding areas as a celebration of Caint Speech Therapy’s newly opened clinic in Nenagh.

The first talk, on Monday the 12th of January, will cover information about early communication skills for preschool children, tips on how to increase and help develop children’s speech and language development at home and in school, and how to identify possible speech and language difficulties early. This talk is suitable for all parents and teachers of preschool children! A question and answer session will follow this talk.

The second talk, on Tuesday 13th of January, will cover information about school-age speech language development. Topics covered include how to increase speech and language development in school-age children so that children are able to achieve academic success. Social skills development and information about how to identify speech and language difficulties in school-age children at home and in the classroom will also be covered. This talk is suitable for all parents and teachers of school-age children! A question and answer session will follow this talk.
