Late Kathleen Slevin.

The death occurred of Kathleen Slevin, Portland, Lorrha on Wednesday November 26th. Kitty as she was known to all, was nee Kennedy from Redwood and she had reached the fine age of 92 years. Out and about until recent month’s, she was honoured last July along with other members of her class, during the 75th Anniversary celebrations of Redwood school. A lady of many fine qualities, she reared a family of three girls along with her husband Jimmy who predeceased her in 1993. Kitty was a homemaker first and foremost who loved to keep her home spick and span, painting and decorating it with love and attention. She loved her garden too and in her spare time, to read. A quiet and always smiling friendly lady, she will be sadly missed by all who knew and came in contact with her but most of all by her family.  Sympathy is extended to her last remaining sister Josie (Roscommon), daughters Ann Nevin (Lorrha), Phyllis Levelle (France), Kathleen O’Halloran (Galway), sons –in-law John, Jacques, Ulick, grandchildren, great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends on their sad loss. Her remains were removed from her daughter Ann’s house on Saturday morning for funeral Mass in St. Ruadhan’s Church, Lorrha and afterwards burial took place in the adjoining cemetery. May she rest in peace.

Smile Awhile & Laugh a Little Every Day. An Irishman wanting to become a Priest went to see the Bishop who said “You must answer 3 questions on the Bible”. 1st – Who was born in a stable?” “Red Rum” he replied 2nd – What do you think of Damascus ?” “It kills 99% of all germs” he replied. 3rd – What happened when the disciples went to Mount Olive ?” “That’s easy” he said “Popeye kicked the s… out of them!!”
