Jason Corrigan, Loughrea, graduated recently from N.U.I. with a Degree in Commerce. Jason is pictured here with his parents Tom and Deirdre and his Lorrha grandparents Anna May and Martin Corrigan, Portland. Jason’s dad Tom is formally from Portland and is well known in the parish. Well done Jason.

Sympathy.

Sympathy is extended to Eamon Egan and family, Carrigahorig on the death of his mother Mary, Woodbank, Shannonbridge in her 97th year. After funeral Mass in St. Ciaran’s Church, Shannonbridge on Sunday last burial took place in Clonmacnois Cemetery. May she rest in peace.

Church News.

Thursday 6th November, is Feast of All Saints of Ireland. Friday 7th is the First Friday of the month. Mass in Lorrha Church at 9.30a.m. and Rathcabbin at 7.30p.m. Confessions beforehand.

Meeting of the Para-Liturgy Group who have been chosen to celebrate Liturgy of the Word & distribution of Holy Communion will take place after the above Mass in Rathcabbin Church. Special Mass & Benediction in Rathcabbin at 7.30pm on Friday 7th Nov. All Adorers and everyone welcome.

Vigil Mass in Redwood Church next Saturday, will be at 7.30p.m.

Thank you to all the people who committed to adoration. It will continue every Thursday, 10am. – 10pm. in Rathcabbin Church.

Prayers for the Faithful Departed will be said in Bonoham Cemetery next Sunday, 9th November after  11.30a.m. Mass.

Calendar Launch.

The launch of the 2015 Lorrha Parish Calendar will take place on Friday night November 7th at 8.00pm in ‘The Shed’, Lorrha. Special guest is former Tipperary goalkeeper Ken Hogan. Ken was also on the backroom team with Tipp’s senior players last season. Lorrha Development Association wish to offer thanks to all who loaned photographs once again for the ever popular Calendar. Unfortunately we were unable to print them all. Your support is much appreciated as always. Light refreshments will be served on the night and all are welcome to attend.

News From Lorrha School.

It certainly has been a very busy first term in Scoil Lua Naofa. First we had a visit from Mieke Scholte from An Taisce on September 4th. Pupils were given a presentation which they found very interesting. We also undertook a Green School Travel Workshop on Monday 13th October in the school.

Classes.

Dancing continues on Fridays as does Speech and Drama lessons. Keyboard lessons for beginners take place on Wednesday evenings, with lessons for improvers on Thursday evenings. Swimming continues on Wednesdays with German classes on Mondays and Guitar lessons on Tuesday evenings.

Road Safety.

We had a visit from Ciaran Smithers in the Road safety Authority. We received a pack of High visibility vests, Going to School leaflets, Safe Cross Code pack.

Athletics.

Well done to all of our pupils who participated in the Athletics in Thurles on Wednesday 1st October. Congratulations to Ronan O’Meara, Tom Duggan and Ryan Clarke who won gold while Amy Clarke came third in the 800m race.

Football.

Commiserations to the Lorrha / Redwood combined football team who reached the North Final recently. After winning the final for the last two years, Ballinahinch proved that little bit stronger and denied the cup returning for the third successive year to the school.

Anti-Bullying Training

Anti-Bullying training for parents will take place in Rathcabbin NS on Thursday 6th Nov at 7.30pm, All welcome.

Winter De-Clutter.

Lorrha Development/ Tidy Towns continue with unused clothes collection throughout the Autumn months. De-clutter your wardrobe, attack your attic, recycle all unwanted/unused items of clothing to make room for your Winter collection. We will accept any kind of bag or in bags provided by the committee. We can collect your unwanted items. Just call or text  (086) 8647166, (086) 8493595 or (086) 8355405 with your name and details. We appreciate your support. All money raised from all fundraising ventures is used for the ongoing work around Lorrha Village which helps to keep two adults employed.

Lorrha Development Association / Tidy Towns will be holding their Annual fundraising Christmas Market and Auction on Sunday December 7th in Lorrha Hall.
