The Lorrha under 12 camogie team that participated in a blitz held in Semple Stadium celebrating 110 years of the Camogie Association.

Church News.

Please note that the Alleluia Chorus Youth Choir will perform at Mass in Rathcabbin on this Sunday coming the 24th at 11.30am. This is one Mass you should not miss.

Instead of the Vigil Mass, in Redwood Church during the month of  September, Liturgy of the Word and Communion will take place at 8.00pm. This will involve people from the parish leading the Faith Community in prayer.

The Annual Holycross Pilgrimage will take place on Wednesday, 27th August. Names as soon as possible to Betty  at  087-6667374.  (Full details will be given when you make contact to book your seat)

Killaloe  Diocese – Autumn  Pilgrimage to Lourdes:  will leave Shannon Airport on Tuesday, October 7th returning on Sunday, October 12th.  The cost this year is €657 pp with a €10 discount for online booking.

Donation To North Tipp Hospice.

Lorrha Development Association / Tidy Towns will make a contribution from the sale of the clothing collection, which has proven to be so successful, to North Tipperary Hospice during a BBQ in Louis and Kathleen McCormack’s pub on Friday night,  August 22nd. Any donations from the night will also go directly to North Tipp Hospice. Music session on the night where we welcome anyone who wishes to join in. We invite all, especially all our many and wonderful, loyal helpers, supporters and sponsors who have worked with us throughout the years and which is much appreciated by us.  We look forward to meeting you all on the 22nd from 9pm.

Autumn De-Clutter.

Lorrha Development/ Tidy Towns continue with unused clothes collection throughout the Autumn months. De-clutter your wardrobe, attack your attic, recycle all unwanted/unused items of clothing to make room for your Autumn collection. We will accept any kind of bag or in bags provided by the committee. We can collect your unwanted items. Just call or text  (086) 8647166, (086) 8493595 or (086) 8355405 with your name and details. We appreciate your support. All money raised from all fundraising ventures is used for the ongoing work around Lorrha Village which helps to keep three adults employed.

Recent Wedding.

The wedding of Stacey Sullivan, daughter of Oliver and Annette, Gurteen, Rathcabbin, to Bernard Guinan son of Maureen, and of the late John, Culleen Rathcabbin, took place on the 14th of August in St. Columcille’s Church Ballinahowen.

The bride was attended by her two sisters Suzanne and Sarah and by two of her friends Aideen Rosney and Alison Delaney. Best man was Tony Guinan, brother of the groom with his three brothers Joe, John and Pat doing the duty of groomsmen. The beautiful flower girls were Hazel McCarthy and Chloe McCarthy both cousins of the bride and the Page boys were Cael Sinnott and Oliver Guinan, both nephews of the groom. Celebrant for the occasion was Fr. Joesph Kennedy while the beautiful church music was by Ms. Patrice O Connor. The Offertory was by Ann Robinson, sister of the groom and Annette Sullivan mother of the bride.  The couple chose to spend their honeymoon in Cancun,  Mexico.

Congratulations and many good wishes is extended to Stacey and Bernard for a long and happy life together in Rathcabbin.

 Taste of Lough Derg Update.

Larkins Bar & Restaurant will host a Garden Party & Talent Show for their A Taste of Lough Derg Event on the 24th of August

Art Exhibition.

Portumna’s Shorelines Arts Exhibition 2014 will run this year from 7th-28th September at The Gallery at The Workhouse Portumna. Local artists wishing to submit a piece are asked to bring it to the Workhouse on 1st Sept from 6.30-8pm. Further details from 086-3195603.

Course  Opportunities.

Camogie Notes.

Well done to the  Camogie team who won their second round of the Junior A Championship v  Burgess. The girls now have two games won from two and play Cashel next fixed for Sunday the 31st of Aug. Final score Lorrha 1.16 Burgess/Duharra 2.5

Underage training continues during the week with the U14’s due to play Portroe at home on Thursday evening at 7.15pm and the U12’s to play in a blitz in Semple Stadium on Friday starting at 2pm. Well Done to all who participated in the U12 ‘Camán To Thurles’ on Friday in Semple Stadium, Thurles celebrating 101 years of the Camogie Association. Lorrha’s U12 Team, mentors & parents had a great few hours is Semple and the girls loved playing on the Thurles pitch.
Well Done:
Well done to Bonner Maher, Ken Hogan and the Tipperary Senior hurling team as they have reached the All Ireland Final. The 7th of September will be a proud day for the Club!

 We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names and all are different colors, but they all have to live in the same box.
