Rathcabbin Players have chosen a Billy Roche play ‘Poor Beast in the Rain’ for their 2014 production which will be staged in Rathcabbin Hall from Friday January 24th to Sunday  26th and from Thursday 30th to Sunday February 2nd. Calendar.

Lorrha Parish Calendar is still on sale throughout the parish but there are only a few copies left, so hurry.  Anyone wishing to order a copy by post contact www. lorrhadorrha.ie or (086) 8647166.

Sympathy.

Sympathy is extended to the Tooher family, Rathcabbin on the untimely death of Carmel which occurred in England on December 30th  beloved daughter of Frances and the late James, sister of Peter and Kathleen (Cashen). Sadly missed by her sister-in-law Deborah and brother-in-law Jim, uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and her loving friends.  After funeral Mass in the Church of the Annunciation, Carrig, on Wednesday last January 8th burial took place in the adjoining cemetery. May she rest in peace.

Unwanted Clothes Collection.

Lorrha Development / Tidy Towns continue with unused clothes collection throughout the winter months. We can collect your unwanted items. Just call or text  (086) 8493595/ (086) 8647166/ (087) 2601413 with your name and details. All money raised from all fundraising ventures is used for the continued work around Lorrha Village.

Recent Engagements.

Congratulations is extended to Yvonne Coughlan, daughter of Damien and Bernie, Lorrha and Glen Burrell, Kildare, who announced their engagement at Christmas. Many good wishes to you both.  Congratulations is also extended to Colin Bourke, son of Richie and Bernie, Lorrha and Katie Hogan, Dublin who also announced their engagement. Well done to you both.

Recent Wedding.

The lovely wedding of David Bourke, son of Eileen and of the late John, Derry, Rathcabbin and Maura McNamara, daughter of Nuala and Liam, Kilrush, Co. Clare on Wednesday 1st January. Fr. Joe Kennedy celebrated the ceremony which took place in Kratloe Church and afterwards the newly married couple adjourned to Bunratty Castle Hotel with their families and friends. The couple chose New Zealand as their honeymoon destination. We extend congratulations and many good wishes to David and Maura and wish you both many years of happiness.

Active Retirement.

On January 9th we resumed our weekly meetings and were happy to welcome so many members back. We’re looking forward to our Christmas lunch on 23rd. February and wish everybody in our association a very happy new year.

News From Lorrha School.

We welcome back all our pupils after the Christmas break and by all accounts everyone had a great Christmas. Many thanks to the parents association for organizing the Christmas disco and a special word of thanks to Santa for taking the time out to come and visit all the pupils. We extend congratulations to Amy Clarke on winning a Bronze medal in the 60m run when she represented Borrisokane A.C. in the open day organized by Nenagh A,C, recently. Well done Amy. Our keyboard concert was a great success and we extend thanks to all the parents for their attendance and the pupils who participated. Well done all. Knitting classes have re-commenced and our thanks to all our volunteers for their help and guidance. The popular Irish dancing classes have also recommenced since Friday 10th and all the pupils are thoroughly enjoying.

Yoga Classes recommencing on Tuesday 14th January, 7.30 – 9pm for 12 weeks at An Gáirdín, Portumna. Ruth teaches Satyanda yoga which is suitable for everyone. Enquiries to ruthganley@gmail.com   or 087 2434759 / 065 6835548.

Lorrha Apostolic Society.

The Apostolic Society wish to thank everyone who supported their Christmas draw. People were very generous considering the recession. Lorrha Camogie Notes.

Mock Wedding!
Here Comes the Bride….Lorrha Camogie Club will be hosting the ‘Mad March Mock Wedding’ on Saturday March the 8th, so keep this date free! It will be the Camogie Club’s main fundraiser for the year and tickets will go on sale this week. It will be the maddest Wedding of 2014!!

Clothing Collection:
We are having a clothing recycling drive in aid of Lorrha Camogie Club. Please donate any unwanted clothes that are clean and dry and in big black bin bags. Clean dry Clothes-Belts-Shoes- Bags- Books, NO Bed clothes-curtains-pillows-duvets-cushions or household goods. So get collecting all your old unwanted clothes! The collection day will be at the end of March but we can collect bags at any time off people.
