Late Sr. de Lourdes (Joan) Reddin.

The peaceful death occurred after a long illness on Saturday February 15th at Catherine McCauley House, Limerick, of Sister de Lourdes Reddin late of Rathcabbin. After attending Rathcabbin N.S. Joan attended secondary school in Carlow. She trained as a nurse and returned to Carlow where she entered St. Leo’s Convent of Mercy and took the religious name of Sr. de Lourdes. Her nursing skills were put to good use as she was posted to St. Mary’s Knockbeg boys boarding College. Here she was taught highly of by both students and staff, not just for her nursing abilities but also for her love of singing and music and was counted as a wonderful addition to the Convent choir. She made many trips back home to Rathcabbin over the years to visit her family and to have a game of cards with them, something she, and they, enjoyed very much. Sr. de Lourdes was to spend the last years of her life in the care of the staff at Catherine McAuley Nursing Home where she passed away peacefully at the age of 80. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her but in particular by her family. Sympathy is extended to her brother Pat (Cullagh, Rathcabbin), sister Sally O’Donoghue (Corrigeen, Rathcabbin), sister in-law Anne, her Community, nephews, nieces, extended family and a large circle of friends. After concelebrated funeral Mass in the Cathedral of the Assumption Carlow on Tuesday 18th burial took place in St. Mary’s Cemetery. May she rest in peace.

Lorrha Camogie.

Just over 2 weeks to go until the Maddest Wedding of the Year! At 8.30pm on 8th March, 2014 Lorrha Camogie Club will host a wedding of a most peculiar nature in the GAA clubhouse, Moatfield.
The names of the happy couple remain a closely guarded secret despite several attempts by the curious to extract information.
Sources close to the Club have hinted at an unorthodox and eventful ceremony.  Guests who are happy to ‘come out’ and declare their own brand of March madness are invited. Animals displaying human traits may well run amuck.  Veterinary inspectors from the ISPCA and Department of Agriculture will be in attendance to ensure proper handling of this rare breed of beast.
It is feared that personal safety may prove an issue, should the madness become too extreme.  Security consultants (on massive bonuses) have been flown in for the occasion. Reasonable levels of odd behaviour are acceptable.  This includes permission to wear fluorescents according to personal taste.
The tidy sum of €10 will secure an excellent vantage point for ceremony, lavish supper, entertaining and good humoured shenanigans, hours of dancing and a licence to be officially March mad. Tickets are on sale around the parish.  Usual terms and conditions apply.
The bride’s parents have requested that guests arrive in good time.  Doors open at 8.00pm.

Tickets are selling fast and Thanks to all who have bought some already. Tickets are €10 each for ages 14+ which includes you entry and into a draw to win 1st Prize: Luxury Night away for two in Cork. 2nd prize: €100 Voucher for David Broderick Sports Therapy, very kindly donated by David (the Best Man Himself!!) and 3rd Prize: Meal for two.  Also on the night wedding ceremony antics with MC on the night the great Hubbie Hogan-say no more!! Special guests, a Lavish buffet, music and much more!  It will be the maddest Wedding of 2014!!  Thanks for your support.

Smile Awhile & Laugh A Little Every Day.

One summer evening during a violent thunderstorm a mother was  tucking her son into bed. She was about to turn off the light when he asked with a tremor in his voice, ‘Mummy, will you sleep with me tonight?’
The mother smiled and gave him a reassuring hug.
‘I can’t dear,’ she said. ‘I have to sleep in Daddy’s room.’
A long silence was broken at last by his shaky little voice:
‘The big sissy.’
