Team Cian Thanks.

On Easter Monday the sun was shining in Portumna and the community came out in force to support our Team Cian Walk/Run for brave little Cian Connolly.  Everyone turned up with their runners and smiles on!  It was an impressive sight to see so many people at the start line in front of the majestic PortumnaCastle. Seasoned runners shared the course with everyone from first time mothers pushing junior Team Cian supporters in pushchairs to grandparents leading from the front. Laughter and chat rang out through our beautiful Portumna Forest Park as people made their way around the course and were welcomed home at the finish line by the Easter Bunny! Syd Connolly, Cian’s father, joined us on the day to start the race and to present the prizes to our worthy winners. An emotional Syd thanked everyone for the overwhelming support that he, Edel, Colin and little Cian are receiving from everyone.  The day was rounded off by a lively performance from the brilliant Tradstone as weary feet went home for a well deserved rest! Team Cian wishes to thank everyone who helped to make the day such a success.

An Irish Miscellany.

A concert with Omna Singers and Portumna Pen Pushers will be held in the Church of Ireland, Portumna, on Friday April 12th at 8pm. Guests include Muirne Goode, Noreen Ryan & Mary Smith. Donations on admission in aid of Team Cian. Further information from 085-1925466.

Well Done.

Congratulations to Redwood NS who won first prize in children’s category in Borrisokane parade on Easter Sunday. The children planned, designed, and painted the float themselves and braved the bad weather  to pull it all off! Well deserved!!
