 LORRHA NOTES.

Late Cecelia Carroll.

The peaceful death took place on Monday April 6th. in Clover Lodge Nursing home Shinrone in her 86th. year of Cecelia Carroll Ballyea Rathcabbin. She was a resident of the nursing home for some time and fought a long illness with great courage and strength.
Cecelia came to Ballyea in 1949 on her marriage to Patsy who pre-deceased her in 1997 and they reared a family of seven. She worked hard and was totally devoted to her husband and children. A wonderful neighbour she always had a great welcome for all who visited her home. A avid reader she also loved to tend to her flower garden feeding the birds and any small animals that visited her domain. She will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all who knew and came in contact with her but in particular by her family who will miss her most of all. Sympathy is extended to her sons Tom and Pat daughters Mary Ena Sheila Anne and Claire sister Teasy and brother in law Frank Madden England sons in-law daughter in-law and her grandchildren of whom she was so proud nephews nieces cousins relatives neighbours and a wide circle of friends.
After funeral Mass in Our Lady Queen of Ireland Church Rathcabbin on Wednesday morning the 8th. burial took place in Bonaham Cemetery. May her gentle soul rest in peace.

Late Paddy Dolan.

The death took place on Holy Thursday April 9th. at the Pike nursing home Rathcabbin of Paddy Dolan Lorrha. Paddy who was 86 was well known in the parish and particurarly in the village of Lorrha as he was one of the older generation of characters of the village. He had an answer and a one liner for everything and for all and usually had to have the final word on all matters.
After funeral Mass in St. Ruadhan’s Church Lorrha on Easter Sunday burial took place in the adjoining cemetery.
Sympathy is extended to his sister Lizzie Houlihan(Motefield) nephews nieces relatives neighbours and friends on their sad loss. May he rest in peace.

Vocations Weekend.

Back By Demand.

All Creatures Great and Small has re-opened for business in Lorrha and is now accepting pets in need of Veterinary care by Vet Etain O’Connor MVB. For appointments please phone (090) 9747930. Grooming and pet boarding services are also available on request.

“Suimhneas”.

A new North Tipperary cancer support centre called “Suimhneas” has opened in the Pastoral Centre Church Road Nenagh. This drop in centre will provide emotional support and practical help to people living with cancer and anyone affected by it. Opening times are Monday 10 – 2p.m. Tuesday 5p.m. -9p.m. and Wednesday to Friday 10a.m. to 2p.m. Phone (067) 73403.

Support Group.

The stroke support group will hold a meeting on Wednesday 29th. April in the Health Centre in Ballinasloe from 7 to 8p.m. with Eileen Davis Occupational Therapy Manager. Gentle arm exercises.

Raffle Results.

Lorrha Parents Association held a raffle and jumble sale on Easter Sunday last in Lorrha hall and the winners of the raffle are: A lovely hamper from Donie O’Meara Super Valu Portumna was won by Aoife Mounsey Redwood 2nd. voucher for the Ferry Inn Restaurant was won by Cian Mannion Ballymacegan 3rd. an Eternal beauty voucher was won by Daniel Madden Portland who also was the lucky winner of the 5th. prise which was a voucher for the Ferry Filling Station shop 4th. prize of a voucher from Una Brehony reflexology was won by Helen Fox Ballinderry 6th. biscuits and wine went to Edel Kennedy Rathcabbin. Congratulations to all the prize winners.

Clean Up.

Lorrha Development Association are holding a clean up of the village and surrounds as part of National Spring Clean this Wednesday evening April 15th. Assembly will be outside the hall at 6.00p.m. Bags and gloves will be provided. Do please come out and help.
