Launch Night.

Fine Gael have selected Lorrha man Louis McCormack from Abbeyville to contest the local elections next June. Louis will launch his election campaign this Saturday night the 25th. on his premises in Abbeyville at 9.00p.m. Music will be provided and all are welcome.

Golf Outing.

The local RAGS golfing Society are holding their next outing on Saturday 25th. April in Loughrea. Tee time is from 12 noon to 1.00p.m.

Vocations Weekend.

Invitation to all young men who feel they might have a vocation to come and see Priesthood it’s challenges activities and ministries in Mount St. Joseph’s Monastery Roscrea on the week-end of 25th. / 26th. St. Joseph’s Young Priest’s Society issue an invitation to a special prayer service and short vigil to mark the close of the year of vocations in St. Brendan’s Church Birr on Friday 24th. April at 8.00p.m. Speaker Fr. Benny McHale will deliver the homily. All are most welcome for this special celebration.

Date For Your Diary.

“Ask about gardening” is a session to be held with Peter Whyte and Susan Jackson in Oxmantown School Birr on Sunday 26th. April at 3.00p.m. Sowing pruning pot plants veggies under glass – and that’s just for starters. Whether you’re a dab hand at all these or more or less haven’t a clue there is a opportunity for you to find out more on the 26th. All are welcome.

Angling Club News.

Lorrha / Rathcabbin Angling club held the second round of the Pete Boylett memorial perpetual cup on Monday 13th. There was only one winner who was Gay Callanan with a catch of 1lb. 8ozs. The final round will be held from Portumna fishing club ground on Sunday 3rd. May from 2 to 6p.m.

All Creatures Great and Small has re-opened for business in Lorrha and is now accepting pets in need of Veterinary care by Vet Etain O’Connor MVB. For appointments please phone (090) 9747930. Grooming and pet boarding services are also available on request.

Lorrha Community Hall committee are holding their Annual General Meeting this Wednesday night the 22nd. April at 8.30 p.m. All are invited to attend.

“Suimhneas”.

North Tipperary cancer support centre “Suimhneas” is open in the Pastoral Centre Church Road Nenagh. This drop in centre will provide emotional support and practical help to people living with cancer and anyone affected by it. Opening times are Monday 10 – 2p.m. Tuesday 5p.m. -9p.m. and Wednesday to Friday 10a.m. to 2p.m. Phone (067) 73403.

Rathcabbin Development Association Thanks

Rathcabbin Development Association would like to thank all those who supported the poker classic in Rathcabbin Hall on Good Friday night. Congratulations to the winners of the cards and raffle and thanks to the raffle prize sponsors.
A special thank you to Ray Kennedy for playing for the childrens’ disco on Easter Monday and thanks to the families who supported also. A great day was had by all(followed by a great night’s sleep!).

Support Group.

The stroke support group will hold a meeting on Wednesday 29th. April in the Health Centre in Ballinasloe from 7 to 8p.m. with Eileen Davis Occupational Therapy Manager. Gentle arm exercises.

Fun Day.

Lorrha Development Association are holding a meeting on Thursday night 23rd in the hall at 8.00p.m. to discuss the forthcoming fun day. Anyone wishing to help out and or support the fun day in any way is invited to attend this meeting. A big Thank You to those who came out and supported the litter clean up of the village and surrounding roads on both Wednesday evening and Saturday morning last. Many hands make light work.

Portumna Social services are holding their annual silver circle draw in aid of the Day Care centre over the next few weeks. Money collected forms essential part of the day to day running of the centre. The committee asks for your support.
