Late Fintan Dolan.

The death occurred on Tuesday October 6th. peacefully after a relatively short illness at his residence of Fintan Dolan Abbeyville Lorrha.
A motor mechanic by trade Fintan carried out a successful business in Abbeyville for a long number of years and this brought him in touch with many from not just the parish but from all over. In his younger years he played hurling with his club and retained that interest over the years when he finished on the field of play. Another sporting interest was golf which he continued to play right up to just weeks before his death. A popular and well know member of the community he will be sadly missed by all who knew him but in particular by his family. Pre deceased by his son Alan he is survived by his wife Mary sons David Colm and Brian daughter in-law Sinead granddaughter Emma sisters brothers in-law aunts nephews nieces relatives and a wide circle of friends to whom sympathy is offered. After funeral Mass in Our Lady Queen Of Ireland Church Rathcabbin on Thursday 8th. burial took place in Bonoham Cemetery. May he rest in peace.

Apostolic Work Society.

Lorrha Apostolic Work Society recently resumed their sewing classes in aid of the missions on Thursday night’s in St. Ruadhan’s Community Hall Lorrha at 8.00p.m. Anyone who is interested in giving a little of their time here with this kind of work which is for use in the Missions will be very welcome to join the group at any time.

Sports Partnership.

North Tipp sports partnership will hold an active leadership training course on Saturday 17th. October in Roscrea. The active leadership award is highly recommended for anyone young or not so young who is already involved or is considering getting involved in coaching or volunteer work or community work. Well Done.

Congratulations to the camogie girls who powered their way to a well deserved victory over Clonoulty in the County Final of the Junior ‘A’ championship Final on Saturday last. This win will bring them up to Intermediate next year and it will also take them to Mahon in Cork this coming Sunday 18th. to play Clonakilty at 4.00p.m where they will represent the County in the Munster Junior Championship. The girls would love to see as many as possible there so if you can then do go and support them and we wish them the best of luck. Commiserations to the senior lads who went down by seven points to Kilruane in the Seamus O’Riain cup final on Sunday.

Meeting Reminder.

A meeting of Lorrha Development Association will take place on Wednesday night September 14th. at 8.00p.m. in St. Ruadhan’s Community Hall. All are welcome to attend.

Birthday Greetings.

Congratulations and best wishes to Mikie Reddan Grange on the occasion of his 80th. birthday. Mikie celebrated the occasion with his family and friends in Pat Hough’s pub in Lorrha on Saturday night last. Well done Mikie and we wish you many more to come.

All the above services are from door to door. Travel passes are accepted on all services. Should you not have a travel pass there will be a small charge.
