Packed from Cover to Cover with photo’s from the past and from the present the Parish Calendar is compiled by members of Lorrha Development Association as a fundraiser for the work carried out in the lovely historical village of Lorrha.

Priced at just €10 the calendar is available in the Lorrha end of the parish from Pat Hough publican Colette’s Hair Salon Ferry Inn Restaurant & Bar Ferry Service Station Carrigahorig Post Office Louis & Kathleen McCormack’s Pub GAA Clubhouse. In Rathcabbin it’s available from Kelly’s Bar & Grocery Brophy’s Bar & Grocery.

The Calendar is also available from Super Valu (O’Meara’s) Portumna Salmons Newsagents Portumna.

Choir Practice.

A practice for all members of the choir in preparation for Christmas will be held in Rathcabbin Church this Wednesday night the 16th. at 8.00p.m. It is hoped that as many as possible will attend and new members will be very welcome.

Christmas Market.

Lorrha Lord Mayor candidate Teresa Dunne is holding a Christmas Market in St. Ruadhan’s Community Hall in Lorrha this coming Sunday December 20th. from 2. to 6.00p.m. This is gearing up to be a fun filled day for all the family. Santa will be calling to check that all the boys and girls are good and will be checking his list with them between 3 and 4 p.m. while there will be music and stalls galore selling Christmas produce arts and crafts etc. Enjoy a glass of Mulled wine or a cup of tea or coffee while the children are having their faces painted. There will be a lot of activity going on with plenty for everyone. This fundraiser is for the development of Friars Park in the village and Lorrha Development Association ask all to support Teresa.

Anniversary Wishes.

Lorrha Development Association are delighted to extends a very happy 43rd. wedding anniversary to Liz and Roger Hussey who celebrated the occasion last week-end. Liz is one of the most valuable members that the association have at this present time and is the main motivator behind the flower planting and weeding throughout the year as well as being a nature lover. Well done to you both and may you celebrate many anniversary’s in the years ahead.

Parish Calendar.

The Lorrha Parish Calendar is on sale and if you haven’t got your copy yet then do go along to any of the following where you can pick up a copy. Pat Hough’s pub and Colettes Hair Salon in the village Post Office Carrigahorig The Ferry Service Station GAA clubhouse Brophy’s and Kelly’s in Rathcabbin Super Valu Portumna. The calendar makes a lovely gift for those living away from home and indeed for those at home too. Please support.

Old Phone Collection.

If your getting an new phone this Christmasdon’t throw away the old one. Pupils in Lorrha National School are asking people to donate old mobile phones. If the school collect 500 phones they will receive a free interactive whiteboard and the phones collected will also help the “Jack and Jill Foundation” in their fundraising efforts. Old phones can be given to any child attending the school or dropped into the school weekdays 9.30a.m. to 3.00p.m.

Used Stamps.

Used postage stamps can help the Missions. Just leave a small margin of paper around each stamp and send to St. Patrick’s Kiltegan Co. Wicklow.

Give Blood.

The Irish blood transfusion service will be in the Shannon Oaks Hotel Portumna on Wednesday 16th. from 3 to 4.45 and from 7 to 9.30p.m.

The Mai.

Portumna Players will stage the Marian Carr play “The Mai” this coming Friday night the 18th. and again on Sunday night 20th. at 8.30p.m. in Portumna town hall.
