Well done to the Pupils from Lorrha N.S. who participated in the Christmas Shoe Box Appeal which is a charity for children in less than fortunate circumstances.
CAVA awards is presented to Lorrha Development Association for their outstanding work throughout the village. It’s encouraging to be recognised by the National Tidy Towns and now by Tipperary.  Amanda Houlihan and her dad John (Works Manager)with Mayor John Kennedy Rose Mannion (Chairperson) Mary Walsh (Vice Chairperson) accept the awards at a ceremony held in Borrisoleigh. Well done to all the workers in Lorrha Development Association.

Church News.

Cemeteries: Prayers for the faithful departed in Lorrha Cemetery on Sunday 21st. November after 10.30am. Mass. Christmas Stations takes place in Lorrha Church on Tuesday 23rd. Redwood Church on Wednesday 24th. and Rathcabbin Church on Thursday 25th. Mass each evening at 7.30p.m. with confessions beforehand. World day of remembrance for road traffic victims will take place on Sunday November 21st.

Sympathy.

Sympathy is extended to Martina Duggan and family Portland on the death of her father Timmy Bugler Woodford. After funeral Mass on Friday 12th. burial took place in Gorthaganna Cemetery. Sympathy also to the extended Hourigan families on the death of Phyllis late of Coolross who died in England recently. May they rest in peace.

Memorial Mass.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated in Rathcabbin Church on Friday 19th. November at 7.30pm for the late Tom Cleary formally Rathcabbin who died in England recently.

A Wake In The West.

Set in a small fishing community on Clew Bay A Wake In The West tells the story of the life – and passing – of Joe Healy a man who drank himself to death. Carrying out his last request causes problems for his family problems that are compounded by the arrival of his son from America after an absence of five years. Themes touched upon include poverty economic instability alcohol abuse unrequited love and fear of the Church.
The hilarious string of events is brought to life by an excellent cast of a play which is written by Michael J Ginnelly and directed by Jim Hynes from nearby Portumna as he puts the Lorrha Variety Group through their paces. The play will be staged in Lorrha Hall from the 26th. to the 28th. November inclusive at 8.30p.m.

Christmas Draw.

Lorrha Apostolic Work Society will be holding their Annual Christmas draw on Thursday night the 16th. December in Lorrha Community Hall. Tickets are now on sale throughout the parish priced at E2 per line. Please support the ticket sellers when they call to you.

Ploughing A.G.M.

The North Tipperary Ploughing Association held their AGM on Wednesday night 10th November in Rathcabbin Hall. It was attended by a large crowd. A reflection of 2010 took place as the outgoing officers thanked the members of the association for their continued trust and support. The outgoing Treasurer Ray Kennedy extended thanks to the members and past officers as after 21 years of dedication to the North Tipperary Ploughing Association the time had come for him to step aside. An election was held for the officers for the coming year as follows NPA Director Denis Duffy President Eileen Duffy Vice President John Slattery Chairperson Eamon Murphy Vice Chairperson Johnny Brophy Secretary Lisa Smyth Vice Secretary Tom Smyth Treasurers Tom Duffy and Denis Cahalan. The date for the Novice match is the 27th November and should you require any further information please contact a member of the committee.

St. Ruadhan’s Active Retirement Association.

Would all members please note that our Social afternoon which we had planned for Wednesday 24th November has now been postponed and will be arranged for a later date. Thanks to our members who attended the Tea Dance in Nenagh on last Sunday afternoon.
