Launch of Parish Calendar 2010 & Parish Web Site.

Parish Memorial / Bereavement Mass.

The annual Mass for those who have lost loved ones especially in the past year will be held in St. Ruadhan’s Church Lorrha on Friday night the 27th. at 7.30p.m. This is for the entire parish and you are asked to let family members living away from home know about it. This is also the Station Mass for Lorrha.

Hospice Fundraiser.

St. Ruadhan’s active retirement association are holding a coffey / tea afternoon in aid of North Tipperary Hospice on Wednesday 25th. November from 2.30p.m. to 5.00p.m. in the GAA clubhouse Moatfield. Please call in. Your support is appreciated.

Sympathy.

Sympathy is extended to John O’Meara & family Grange and to Mikie Reddin Grange on the sudden and unexpected death of a mother and sister Eva O’Meara nee Reddin which occurred on Wednesday 18th. After funeral Mass in Carrig Church on Saturday 21st. burial took place afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. May she rest in peace.

Birr Novena.

The theme for the Novena in Birr will be ‘Lord That I May See’ seeking a vision for our day Monday November 23rd. to Tuesday December 1st. in St. Brendan’s Church Birr.

Final Reminder.

A final reminder about the Lorrha Lord Mayor Joe Dolan fundraising Poker Classic which will take place in the Friars Tavern Lorrha on Friday night 27th. at 9.00p.m. sharp. Top prize is €1000 and there are many other prizes on the night and tickets are still on sale from Joe or any member of his committee. This effort is to raise funds for the development of Friars Park in the village. Lorrha Development Association appeal to all to support this fundraising venture by Joe and his committee.

Date For Your Diary.

As the1984 team get ready for their 25 year reunion which will take place on December 28th. the team will commence their celebrations when earlier in the day they will play a fundraising fun game against the Lorrha Junior “A” camogie champions. This is part of the Joe Dolan Lorrha Lord mayor fundraising campaign and this ‘game’ should prove to be a laugh a minute. Pencil it into your diaries as it will be a great way to shake off the Christmas cobwebs. More details later.

Table Quiz.

David Power will commence his Lorrha Lord Mayor fundraising campaign with a table quiz on Friday night 4th. December in St. Ruadhan’s Community Hall in Lorrha. Proceedings will get under way at 9.00p.m. Table of four adults €30 and children €12. This effort is to raise funds for the development of Friars Park in the village. Lorrha Development Association appeal to all to support this fundraising venture by David and his committee.

Birthday Greetings.

Congratulations is extended to Oliver Sullivan Rathcabbin on the occasion of his 50th. birthday. Oliver celebrated the occasion recently with his family. Well done Oliver and many happy returns. Congratulations is also extended to Tony Reddin Banagher who celebrated his 90th. birthday last week-end with family neighbours and friends at a part organized by his family. Well done Tony.

Lorrha Development Association wish to thank those who attended the launch of the Parish Calendar and Web site on Saturday night last in the Last Chance Rathcabbin. We extend thanks to Ray the DJ Darina & Pat Kelly Michelle Moran Councillor Michael O’Meara and Mark O’Leary. The calendar is now on sale throughout the parish while the parish website carries up to date news and events and can be viewed on www.lorrhadorrha.ie.

Monster Table Quiz.

A fundraising quiz will be held in the County Arms Hotel Birr on Sunday November 29th. at 5.30p.m. with proceeds to Alzheimer Society.

Roads Closed.

The heavy downpours of rain has forced the closure of some roads in the local area. At the Anglers Rest on the Rathcabbin end of the parish heavy flooding has closed this stretch of road since last Friday with traffic travelling to Banagher diverted through Birr. On Saturday the road at Lorrha cross was closed after flooding caused many cars making their way through to stall while on Sunday the Bridge at Portumna was closed to traffic as the Shannon at the Emerald Star boat base burst it’s banks.

Demonstration.

A charity Christmas flower demonstration will be held in the Shannon Oaks Hotel Portumna on Thursday 26th. November at 8.00p.m. in aid of Ability West.
