John Quinn, Author, visit to Birr Library

As part of the Spring Series of Lectures being organised in Birr Library by Martina Needham (Lorrha) Executive Librarian John Quinn recently gave a talk on his life as a broadcaster and radio producer for RTE and author of many famous books such as ‘Goodnight Ballivor I’ll sleep in Trim’ which is a story of his own childhood and upbringing in Ballivor Co. Meath.  Another of his books which he spoke about was ‘Sea of Love Sea of Loss’ which was written as a tribute to his late wife Olive a native of Tipperary whom he met when he was in a sanitorium suffering from TB.   His famous children’s novel is ‘The Summer of Lily and Esme’.  When he is not writing John holds writing workshops in local schools. His lecture in Birr Library was very well attended and was very interesting and moving.  (See Photo Gallery for Pictures).
